MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF
THE CITY COUNCIL
' TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2014 — 6:32 P.M.
The City Council, of the City of Azusa, met in Special Session at the above date and time in the Azusa Light &
Water Conference Room, located at 729 N. Azusa Avenue, Azusa, California.
A copy of the Notice of Special Meeting was delivered and e-mailed to the Mayor and Councilmembers on September
29, 2014, between 4:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M., by Senior Office Specialist Bautista and Deputy City Clerk Hernandez.
Pledge to the flag was led by Councilmember Edward J. Alvarez. Flag Salute
Mayor Rocha called the meeting to order Call to Order
ROLL CALL: Roll call was taken by City Clerk Comejo. Roll Call
PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: GONZALES, CARRILLO, MACIAS, ALVAREZ, ROCHA
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
ALSO PRESENT Present
Elected Officials: City Clerk Cornejo.
Staff Members: Acting City Manager Gonzalez, City Attorney Martinez, Interim Human Resources Also Present
Director St. Peter, Assistant/Deputy City Clerk Hernandez.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Mr. Jorge Rosales addressed the meeting asking if there was going to be reportable action after closed Public
session. City Attorney responded stating that at that time, they did not know if there was going to be Participation
reportable action. `
CLOSED SESSION
The City Council recessed to closed session at 6:34 P.M. to discuss the following:

PUBLIC EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT Pursuant to California Government Code, Section Employee
54957. Appoint, City
Title: Interim City Manager/ City Manager Manager
The City Council reconvened at 7:57 P.M., City Attorney Martinez announced that regarding the item
listed on the agenda, discussion was held on the appointment of a permanent City Manager and there
was no reportable action; with respect to the interim City Manager, Council provided direction to the
City Attorney to have staff conduct an expedited process to search for, and hire, an Interim City
Manager with experience, hopefully from within the San Gabriel Valley area, attempting to schedule
interviews, of the potential candidates the week of October 13, 2014; in the mean time, Police Chief Sam
Gonzalez will remain Acting City Manager with the assistance of all City Departments.

It was consensus of the Council to adjourn the meeting.
