HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - January 16, 1978 - RALJ AZUSA AUDITORIUM AZUSA, CALIFORNIA 0 MONDAY, JANUARY 16, 1978 Page 2 Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Fry and unanimously carried to close the hearing Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Fry and carried to approve the Tentative Parcel Map No 10145, and direct the City Attorney to prepare the necessary Resolution Councilman Cruz dissenting The matter of the Senior Citizen Home Refurbishing Project Senior Citizen which had been continued from the last Council meeting home refurbish - was again brought before Council Finance Officer submitted ing program the following guidelines to be used if Council adopts this program for the City of Azusa 1 The dwelling to be refurbished must be owner occupied and owner must be 65 or over with the majority of his or her income derived from Social Security 2 All refurbishing work under this program shall be limited to the exterior of dwelling (minor carpentry, painting, landscaping, driveway repair, etc ) 3 The Bassett Barrio Council will supply and supervise all labor in connection with the refurbishment 4 The City of Azusa through Community Development funds will make available a grant up to $500 per dwelling for material 5 The scope of repairs will be agreed on by the City representative, Mr Diaz, and a representative of the Bassett Barrio Council prior to commencing any work 6 A detailed material list (approved by the City of Azusa) will be sent to the Purchasing Department All supplies will be purchased through the city's Purchasing Depart- ment 7 At completion each fob will be approved by the owner and the City 8 The Bassett Barrio Council is to furnish all of their own equipment 9 The Pity will assist in publicizing this program to the senior citizens After extended discussion, it vas Moved by Councilman Decker, seconded by Councilman Cruz and unanimously carried to approve guidelines with the exception of item (1) to be amended as follows age 65 or over to read 60 or over, the majority of his or her income derivedrom Soca Security to read the majority of his or her income derived from Social Security or equivalent tir Murray Kane,representing the Law Firm of Eugene Jacobs, City's addressed Council giving current status of the City's Com- Redevelop munity Redevelopment Agency and giving alternatives to Plan Rpt the final realization of a redevelopment program After answering questions directed tc him by Council, and following disucssion, it was tfoved by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Decker and carried by roll call to direct special counsel (Eugene Jacobs) to draft a redevelopment plan Council- man Arkison dissenting
