HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - June 5, 2000 - RACITY OF AZUSA MINUTES OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY REGULAR MEETING JUNE 5, 2000 - 8:37 P.M. The Redevelopment Agency of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above date and time in the Azusa Civic Auditorium. Chairperson Madrid called the meeting to order. ROLL CALL PRESENT: DIRECTORS: HARDISON, STANFORD, ROCHA, BEEBE, MADRID ABSENT: DIRECTORS: NONE General Counsel Carvalho, Executive Director Cole, Economic Development/Redevelopment Director Andrews, City Department Heads, Secretary Solis, Deputy Secretary Toscano. The CONSENT CALENDAR consisting of items VI -A through VI -D, was approved by motion of Director Hardison, seconded by Director Beebe and unanimously carried. Directors Beebe and Stanford abstained on item VI -A, as they were not present at the meeting and Director Stanford abstained on item VI -B; he has a Conflict of Interest as he and his wife receive income from Azusa Pacific University. A. Minutes of regular meeting of May 15, 2000, were approved as written. B. SPECIAL CALL ITEM. Call to Order Roll Call Also Present Consent Calendar approved VI -B Spec Call Min approved Spec Call C. Amendment to the Blanket Purchase Order for Geographics in the amount of Amend Blanket $23,160, was approved. They provide advertising and professional design P.O. Geographics services to the City. D. Resolution authorizing payment of warrants by the Agency was adopted and entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF Res. 00-1114 AZUSA ALLOWING CERTAIN CLAIMS AND DEMANDS TO BE PAID Warrants OUT OF REDEVELOPMENT FUNDS. SPECIAL CALL ITEM Downtown Project Manager Paz addressed Boardmembers presenting the proposal by Azusa Pacific University's School of Business and Management to provide technical assistance services to Azusa Businesses. He stated that this would be community empowerment as it would involve Azusa Businesses, Azusa Pacific University, Azusa Unified School District high school students, and increase activity downtown. APU would be providing web page design for any Azusa Business and marketing consultation and display of the storefront windows. He then proposed to enter into a one year lease with APU to allow the technical assistance to be held at the Agency owned property located at 630-632 N. Azusa Avenue. Special Call Items 0 0 Dr. Ilene Smith-Bezjian, Dean of School of Business and Management addressed the Dr. I. Smith-Bezjian Boardmembers detailing the goals of the Technical Assistance Center for students as comments well as local businesses. She stated that they would be furnishing all the tables, chairs, etc., and will not charge for the service, but, will charge for the maintenance of the web site. Moved by Director Hardison, seconded by Director Beebe and carried to direct staff to Lease Agmt w/APU negotiate a one year lease with Azusa Pacific University to occupy the Agency owned for 630-632 N. Azusa property at 630-632 N. Azusa Avenue to provide Technical Assistance services to Azusa Avenue for Technical businesses. Director Stanford abstained due to a Conflict of Interest as he and his wife Assistance Center receive source of income from Azusa Pacific University.
