A RESOLUTION GIVING NOTICE OF PROPOSED ANNEXATION
TO CITY OF AZUSA OF UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED
HEREIN AND DESIGNATED "NORTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT
NO. 20", AND GIVING NOTICE OF TIME AND PLACE FOR
HEARING OF PROTESTS THERETO.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation of
Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, a petition signed by owners of not
r less than one-fourth of the land in the hereinafter described territory,
J by area and by assessed value as shown on the last equalized assessment
roll of the County of Los Angeles, was filed with the City Council of
the City of Azusa on December 5, 1956, requesting annexation of the
hereinafter described territory to said City, and an amended petition,
so signed, was filed with the City Council of said City on January 3, 1957,
amending the description of said territory to conform to the boundaries
approved by the Boundary Commission of the County of Los Angeles on
December 19, 1956, but describing the same territory described in the
said original petition.
2. That the territory which the petitioners by said petitions
request be annexed to the City of Azusa and which said City and its
Council propose to annex, is situate in the County of Los Angeles, State
of California,_ hereby designated "Northerly_Annexation District No. 20",
and described as follows:
Beginning at the southeast corner of Lot 58 of Subdivision No.
2 of the Azusa Land and ',Vater Company as'shown on map recorded in
Book 43, page 94 of Miscellaneous Records in the office of the Re-
corder of the County of Los Angeles, which point is in the boundary
of the City of Azusa as same existed on October 15, 1956; thence
northerly along the easterly line and westerly along the northerly
line of said Lot 58 to a point distant along said northerly line,
South 890 42' 35" East 514 feet from the northwest corner of said
Lot; thence North 01 17' 25" East 150 feet; thence North 890 42' 35"
West 190 feet; thence South 00 17' 25" West 150 feet to a point in
the northerly line of said Lot 58; thence westerly along said north-
erly line and the southerly line of Lot 38 of said Subdivision to
the most westerly corner of said Lot 38; thence North 450 46' 25"
East 44.72 feet, according to County Surveyor's Map No. B- 81, sheet
2, on file in the office of the County Engineer of said County, to
a point which is at the intersection of the northwesterly boundary
of the Rancho Azusa de Dalton with the southerly line of Fractional
Section 22, Township 1 North, Range 10 West, S.B.B. & M. according
to Plat of said Township filed in the U. S. Land Office, Los Angeles,
California; kpril 6, 1876, and the Resurvey Plat filed in said U. S.
Land Office April 20, 1936; thence westerly along said last mentioned
southerly line, and northerly along the westerly line of said Section
22 to the Southwest corner of Tract No. 742, as per map recorded in
Book 17, Page 7 of Maps in said County ?ecorder's office; thence east-
erly along the southerly line and northerly along the easterly line
of said Tract No. 742 to the Northeast corner of said Tract; thence
North 370 57' 31" East 220.22 feet, more or less, along the northwest-
erly line of "Tract No. 9" as described in.Decree on Declaration of
Taking in Case No. 7302-B of the District Court of the United States
for the Southern District of California, Central Division, a certified
copy of which is recorded in Book 24825, page 89 of Official Records,
in the office of said County Recorder,to the intersection with the
southerly line -.f the north half of the northwest quarter of the south-
west quarter of said Section 22, which is also the southerly line of
that parcel of land described in that certain -grant deed to the Union
Rock Company_ recorded in Book 1078, page 345 of Official Records, in .

of said last mentioned parcel to the northeast corner of the south half
of the northwest quarter of said Section 22; thence northerly along
the easterly line and westerly along the northerly line of said north-
west quarter of Section 22 to the northwest corner of said Section 22;

to the northwest corner )f said Section 21; thence southerly along the
westerly line of said S. -:tion 21 to the -northwest corner of Lot 1 of
said Section 21; thence easterly on the northerly line and southerly on
the easterly line of said Lot 1 to the northwesterly boundary of Parol
2 as described in deed to Los Angeles Development Company recorded in
Book 51375, page 92 of Official Records, in the office of said Count•.-
Recorder; thence along the boundary of said Parcel 2, North 65° 12' 33''
East, North 20 12' 15" East, and South 440 34' 30" East to the norther?,
line of Rancho Azusa de Duarte as shown on said County Surveyors Map
No. B-481, sheet 2, on file in the office of the County Engineer of said
county; thence westerly along said northerly line of Rancho Azusa de
Duarte to the northeast corner of Lot 2, portions of Sections 21 and 28,
of the Subdivision of the Rancho Azusa de Duarte, as shown on map re-
corded in Book 6, pages 80 through 82 of Miscellaneous Records, in the
office of said County Recorder; thence southerly along the easterly line
of said lot 2, to the southeast corner of said Lot 2; thence southerly
in a direct line to the northerly terminus of that certain course in
the boundary of Tract 1.8 shown as having a bearing and length of North
00 04' 40" West 126.36 feet on map filed in Case No. 2715 -PH Civil of
the District Court of the United States for the Southern District of
California,Central Division; thence South 00 04' 40" East 126.36 feet
to the southerly terminus of said certain course; thence South 40° 46'
19" West 330.32 feet to the most easterly corner of Parcel 2 as described
in deed to Errol D. Martin and Dorothy A. Martin recorded in Book 49297,
page 252 of Official Records, in the office of said County Recorder -
thence along the boundary of said Parcel 2, South 40° 46' 19" West A5.58
feet, South 880 37' 02" 'nest 389.99 feet, and North 0° 13' 45" West 63.65
feet more or less to the boundary of said Tract. 18; thence along the
boundary of said Tract 18, South 880 37' 02" West 239.58 feet, South
00 13' 45" East 419.76 feet, South 88° 37' 02" West 419.76 feet to the
easterly line of Lot 4 in Section 28 of said Subdivision of the Rancho
Azusa de Duarte , southerly in a direct line to the southeast corner of
said Lot 4, westerly along the southerly line of said Lot 4 a distance
of 250.06`feet., Vo-th 130 48' 40" East 520.85 feet, aid south 34° 09' 48"
West to the sont.herly lire of the Pacific Electric Railway Right -of -qday,
300 feet wide in this vicinity as shown on map recorded in Book 26`•1.,

present Pacific Electric Railway light -of -May as the Los Angeles inter -
Urban Railway Company Right -of -,lay; thence westerly along the southerly
line of said Pacific 41pntric Railway Right -of -Way, of variable width,
following the same in all its courses and directions to a point North
770 30' 30" :vest 172.43 feet, measured along said southerly line of the
Pacific Electric Railway, from the intersection of said southerly line
with the East line of 1-•t 9 in Section 29 of said Subdivision of the
Rancho Azusa de Duarte; thence South 00 11' 33" East 200 feet; thence
North 770 30' 30" West 100 feet; thence North 00 11' 33" West 200 feet
to said southerly line of the Pacific Electric Railway Right -of -Way;
thence westerly along said last mentioned southerly line, to the north-
easterly corner of the parcel of land conveyed to Victor D. Klein and

line of Fish Canyon Road to a point distant South 0° 07' 05" East 450
feet thereon from the intersection of said last mentioned easterly
line with the southerly line of the parcel of land described in deed
to Duarte Foothill Citrus Association recorded in Book 14312, page 222
of said Official Records; thence North 890 52' 55" East 200 feet; thence
southerly along a line parallel to said easterly line of Fish Canyon
Road a distance of 150 feet; thence South 89° 52' 55" West 200 feet to
said easterly line of F4sh Canyon Road; thence southerly along the east-
erly line of said Fish Canyon Road and its extension southerly as shown
on County Surveyor's Map 'do. B-1644, on file in said office of the County
Engineer, to the northeasterly line of the State Highway, 100 feet wide,
shown on said last mentioned map as Foothill. Boulevard and also known
as Huntington 4rive, said 100 foot wide State Highway being as shown on
State Division of Highways Map No. VII-L.A.-9-C, sheet 13, which map is
on file in said office of the County Engineer as Filed Map No. 10205;
thence southeasterly along the northeasterly line of the 100.foot wide
right of way as described in deed recorded in Book 2278, page 187 of
Official Records in said County Recorder's office to appoint in said
northeasterly line opposite centerline Station 149098.56 as shown on
Sheet 14 of said State Division of Highways map- thence continuing
southeasterly on the northeasterly line of the tate Highway Right -of -
Way, 100 feet wide as described in deed recorded in Book 7848, page 48
of Official Records in said County Recorder's office, as shown on Sheets
14,.15, and 16 of said State Division of Higghways map, to the northwest-
erly boundary line of said Subdivision No. 2 of the Azusa Land and Water
Company; thence northeasterly along said northwesterly boundary line'to
the southwesterly line of the Pacific Electric Railway spur track Right -
of -Way, 50 feet wide, as described in grant of easement recorded in Book
32974, page 275 of said Official Records; thence northwesterly, northerly
and northeasterly along the southwesterly, westerly, apd northwesterly
lines of said spur track Right -of -Way, 50 feet wide, to -the intersection
with the southerly line of the Pacific Electric Railway Right -of -Way,
100 feet wide, as shown on said map recorded in Book 2651, page 215 of
Deeds; thence easterly along the southerly line of said last mentioned
Right -of -Way a distance of .95.76 feet, more or less, to the:.northwesterly
boundary lire of said Subdivision No. 2; thence northeasterly along said
last mentioned line to the northerly line of said Pacific Electric Light -
of -Way, 100 feet wide, which is. _also a point in said boundary of the City
of Azusa; thence northwesterly along said -City boundary and following
the same in all its courses and directions to the point of beginning.
3. That Monday, March 4, 1957, at the hour of 8:00 P.M., in
the Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Azusa, County of
Los Angeles, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place when and
where any person owning real property within the uninhabited territory
above described and proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, and having
any objections to the proposed annexation, may appear before the City
Council of the City of Azusa and show cause why such uninhabited territory
should not be so annexed to the City of Azusa. The protest must be in
writing, may be filed at any time before the hour set for hearing objection:
to the proposed annexation, and shall state the name or names of the owner
or owners of property affected and the description and area of such prop-
erty, in general terms.
4. That the territory described herein is included in Northerly
Annexation District No. 15 to the City of Azusa, which annexation is
presently under legal attack; that this proceeding is not intended to
cancel, set aside or in any way invalidate said Northerly Annexation
District No. 15 but is intended to be operative only in the event said
Northerly Annexation District No. 15 was ineffective to annex the territory
herein described to the City of Azusa.

5. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized
and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published at least
twice, but not oftener than once a week, in The Azusa Herald and Pomo-
tropic, a newspaper of general circulation published in said City of
Azusa, the City to which it is proposed to annex the aforesaid terri-
tory, and also in The Los Angeles Daily Journal, a newspaper of general
circulation published outside the City of Azusa, but in the County of
Los Angeles, California, the county in which is located the territory
proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, said publication to be
complete at least twenty (20) days prior to the date set for hearing.
6. The said City Clerk is further authorized and directed
to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to
the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County and to each person to
whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed was assessed in
the last equalized county assessment roll available on the date the
above said proceedings were initiated, at the addresses shown on said
assessment roll or known to said Clerk, and to any person who has filed
his name and address and the designation of the lands in which he has
an interest, either legal or equitable, with said Clerk, such notice
to be given not less than twenty (20) days before the first public
hearing on the proposed annexation.
7. In the event there is, upon the land proposed to be
annexed to said City, a structural improvement owned, being acquired
or leased by a county fire protection district, the City Clerk is
directed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be
mailed to the overning body of such district, such notice to be sent not
less than ten M) days before the first public hearing upon such pro-
posed annexation.
8. The City Clerk is directed to cause written notice to be
given to such other persons as may be legally entitled thereto, in
the manner required by law,
9. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution.
