A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE COUNTY BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS TO IMPROVE GRAND AVENUE, A MAJOR
HIGHWAY IN THE COUNTY MASTER PLAN OF HIGHWAYS,
WITH SPECIAL LOS ANGELES COUNTY ROAD DEPARTMENT
FUNDS.
WHEREAS, the cities of East San Gabriel Valley, public
educational institutions and civic groups are anxious to make
certain improvements to Grand Avenue, a major highway, which is of
extreme importance to this area, and to the County of Los Angeles,
from a traffic safety and economic point of view, and
WHEREAS, the representatives of the various cities have
previously agreed upon a priority list for highway construction in
conjunction with the cities of Pomona Valley and the East San Gabriel
Valley; said priority list having been approved by the Los Angeles
County Road Department, and
WHEREAS, Grand Avenue, a major highway on the County
Master Plan of Highways, has been indicated with a number two prior-
ity among said cities and county, and
WHEREAS, traffic congestion on said Grand Avenue is in-
creasing daily due to inadequate improvements and rapid growth of
population, and
WHEREAS, a request for a crossing of the San Bernardino
Freeway at Grand Avenue has been presented to the State Division of
Highways by the County of Los Angeles, and
WHEREAS, the Diamond Bar Ranch is now under development
and is expected to contain an estimated population in excess of
50,000 people who need this direct route to the San Bernardino
Freeway.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED HEREBY that the City
Council of the City of Azusa requests the County Board of Super-
visors and Los Angeles County Road Department to widen and improve
Grand Avenue at the earliest possible date.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Azusa held on
the 18th day of May, 1959, by the affirmative vote of at least three
Councilmen, to wit:
