RESOLUTION NO. 4097
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA DECLARING THAT PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN INITIATED
BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TO ANNEX TO SAID
CITY CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN
AND DESIGNATED "NORTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO.
36, REVISED".
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA:
1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation of
Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, proceedings have been initiated by
the Council of the City of Azusa, on its own motion, to annex to the
City of Azusa all that uninhabited territory situate in the County of
Los Angeles, State of California, hereby designated as "Northerly
Annexation District No. 36, Revised" and described as follows:
That portion of Lot 1, Section 26, Township 1 North,
Range 10 West, San Bernardino Meridian, in the County
of Los Angeles, State of California, according to the
official plat of said land filed in the District Land Office,
April 6, 1876 described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the northerly line of Sierra Madre
Avenue distant North 89° 19, East 56.80 feet from the
intersection of said northerly line with the northerly
prolongation of the center line of Azusa Avenue as shown
on map filed as Exhibit No. 1 in Case No. 109982 of the
Superior Court of the State of California, Los Angeles
County; thence parallel with a line shown as "True North"
on said map, North 360.35 feet to true point of beginning;
thence North 890 191 East 86.00 feet; thence South 380
47, East 109.03 feet; thence North 670 13' East 69.53
feet; thence along the most westerly line of the land
described in the deed to Myron B. Cooley and wife, filed
on May 19, 1954 as Document No. 8018-W in the office of
the county recorder of said county, North 59.63 feet to
the north line of the land described in said deed; thence
along said north line and the north line of the land
described in the deed to James Vallance Cumberford and
wife, filed June 7, 1954, as Document No. 8952-W in said
office of the County Recorder, North 890 19f East 341.56
feet to the northeast corner of the land described in
said last mentioned deed; thence along the northeast and
east lines of the land described in the deed to Carl A.
Schwenden and wife, filed July 6, 1954, as Document No.
10556-W in said office of the county recorder, South 420
55' 12" East 213.86 feet and South 202 feet to the
northerly boundary of the City of Azusa, as same existed
on January 12, 1960, along the north line of Sierra Madre
Avenue; thence along said northerly boundary and said
north line North 89 191 East 269.55 feet more or less to
a point distant 234.00 feet westerly from the easterly
line of said lot; thence northerly parallel with the
easterly line of said lot, 50.00 feet; thence north-
easterly 406.96 feet more or less in a direct line to a
point distant westerly 50.00 feet, measured parallel
with the southerly line of said lot from a point in said
easterly line distant 435.00 feet northerly from the south-
easterly corner of said lot; thence easterly parallel with
said southerly line 50 feet to last mentioned point in
said easterly lot line; thence northerly along said easterly
lot line 937 feet more or less to the northerly line of said

lot; thence westerly along said northerly line 1215 feet
more or less to a line that is parallel with and 110 feet
east of said line shown as "True North"; thence southerly
along said parallel line 1024 feet more or less to the
true point of beginning.
2. That the Council of the City of Azusa desires to annex
said uninhabited territory to the City of Azusa for the following
reasons: The territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa, is unin-
habited, and its proposed annexation will contribute to and facilitate
the orderly growth and development of both the City and the territory
proposed to be annexed.
3. That the County Boundary Commission of Los Angeles
County, California, did in session duly assembled on January 27, 1960,
approve the proposed annexation boundaries of said "Northerly Annexa-
tion District No. 36, Revised" as above described, and as submitted
to said Commission by the Council of the City of Azusa with certain
revisions reflected herein.
4. That Monday, November 7, 1960, at the hour of 8:00 P.M.,
in the Council Chambers of the City Hall in the City of Azusa, County
of Los Angeles, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place
when and where the City Council will hear protests made by any person
owning real property within the uninhabited territory above described
and proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa. Such protests must
be in writing, may be filed at any time before the hour set for hearing
objections to the proposed annexation, and shall state the name or
names of the owner or owners of property affected, and the description
and area of such property, in general terms.
5. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized
and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published at
least twice, but not oftener than once a week, in the Azusa Herald
and Pomotropic, a newspaper of general circulation published in said
City of Azusa, the City to which it is proposed to annex the afore-
said territory, and also in The Los Angeles Daily Journal, a news-
paper of general circulation published outside the City of Azusa, but
in the County of Los Angeles, California, the county in which is
located the territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa,
said publication to be complete at least twenty days prior to the date
set for hearing.
6. The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to
cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to each
person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is
assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll available on the
date the above said proceedings were initiated, at the addresses
shown on said assessment roll or known to the Clerk, and to any
person who has filed his name and address and the designation of the
lands in which he has an interest, either legal or equitable, with
the Clerk, such notice to be given not less than twenty days before
the first public hearing on the proposed annexation.
7. The City Clerk is directed to cause written notice to
be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled thereto,
in the manner required by law.
8. The City Council does hereby find, determine and declare
that pursuant to Section 9207 (c) of the Azusa Municipal Code, said
uninhabited territory will be annexed to the City as and will become
a part of R -la, Single Family Residential - 10,000 Zone. The City
Council does further find, determine and declare that the owner or
owners of all of the said territory to be annexed have filed their
consent to such annexation in writing with the City Council.

9. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution. ,

regular meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of October, 1960, by the
