RESOLUTION NO. 4103_
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
APPROVING THE FEATHER RIVER PROJECT ASSOCIATION'S
RESOLUTION ENDORSING PROPOSITION ONE.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, there remain less than 7 weeks until General Election
Day, November 8, 1960; and
WHEREAS, many last-minute false and misleading statements are
being circulated by partisan and special interest groups
in an effort to confuse and delude the public regarding
the California Water Resources Development Bond Act,
Proposition One on the Ballot; and
WHEREAS, experience has demonstrated that late efforts in contract
negotiations tend to falsely emphasize a few differences
and to hide the large measure of agreement between the
state and its prospective water users; and
WHEREAS, Governor Brown last January 20th announced essential
principles which the state will follow and has followed
in current drafts of the contract it has offered water users;
and
WHEREAS, these principles and contract drafts generally conform to
the principles the Feather River Project Association has
long endorsed, especially the provision that the Feather
River -Delta Diversion Project shall be paid for, not by
the general state taxpayer, but by the areas of the State
usinq such State Project water and by those being direct
NO, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Feather River Project
Association call upon all cities, districts and other local
agencies, including the individual agencies distributing
water to the ultimate consumer, seeking water from the
State Project to immediately endorse Proposition One and
to subordinate contract negotiations to the paramount
necessity of securing passage of Proposition One.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
