HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 41534 RESOLUTION NO. 4153 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, TO THE BOARD OF SUPER- VISORS OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY URGING THE ENACTMENT OF A COUNTY LOT SPLIT ORDINANCE. WHEREAS, the City of Azusa has had in effect since January 17, 1949, a lot split ordinance which has enabled the City to effectively regulate the creation of new lots which are not subject to or controlled by the Subdivision Map Act of the State of California; and WHEREAS, the lot split ordinance has been extremely beneficial in enabling the City to obtain proper street dedications, adequate street improvements, and the overall coordination of new lots with the surrounding area; and WHEREAS, Los Angeles County presently does not have any ordinance controlling the division of land in the County in respect to dividing land into two, three, or four parbels; and WHEREAS, the lack of a proper ordinance regulating the division of County land into new lots not subject to the Sub- division Map Act of the State of California has continuously allowed the creation of new lots on a wide -spread scale by pro- perty owners in the Canty without regard to an orderly coordination of said new lots with surrounding City and -County areas; and WHEREAS, the end result of the lack of such an ordinance has been a continuous creatJm of new unimproved and uncoordinated parcels which have caused in the past and continue to cause avoidably hazardous and undesirable traffic conditions, increas- ing flood hazard conditions, the prevention of efficient water system utilization, a deterrent to proper community development, and depreciation of property values within the City and in County territory, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Azusa, as follows: SECTION 1. That the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors enact a lot split ordinance having the objective of eliminating the numerous and varied problems that are being created in County territory and adjacent City territory through the lack of a proper County ordinance to regulate the division of parcels in the County that do not come under the jurisdiction of the Subdivision Map Act of the State of California. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. Adopted and approved this 6th day of March, 1961.
