RESOLUTION NO. 4336
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
URGING THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AND THE
CALIFORNIA STATE DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES TO PRO-
CEED WITH CONSTRUCTION OF THE EAST BRANCH OF THE FEATHER
RIVER AQUEDUCT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PRESENTLY ESTABLISHED
TIME TABLE.
WHEREAS, the voters of the State of California have voted bonds to
construct the Feather River Project; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Water Resources has determined that the
East Branch of the Feather River Aqueduct should be completed by the year
1972 for the purpose of delivering Feather River water to portions of Southern
California; and
WHEREAS, the City of Azusa is within the area to be serviced by said
East Branch of the Feather River Aqueduct, commonly known as the "High Line
Route";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Azusa that the Governor of the State of California dnd the State Department
of Water Resources be urgently requested to continue to proceed without delay
to complete all the steps necessary to complete the construction of the East
Branch of the Feather River Aqueduct by the year 1972 in accordance with the
time table established at the time the Feather River Bond Issue was adopted by
the voters of the State of California.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Azusa
urges that the East Branch of the Aqueduct be constructed along the "High
Line Route" established by the State Department of Water Resources as furn-
ishing the best and most economical route for the transmission of supplemental
water to San Bernadino County, the San Gabriel Valley, the Eastern portion of
Los Angeles County and San Diego County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be directed to forward a
certified copy of this resolution forthwith to the Governor of the State of
California and the State Director of Water Resources.
