HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 43134 0 RESOLUTION NO. 4313 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING SUPPORT FOR A FALLOUT SHELTER AND EMER- GENCY FACILITIES AT INTER -COMMUNITY HOSPITAL IN COVINA. WHEREAS, there exists in that part of Los Angeles County known as the San Gabriel Valley, a minimum of fallout shelter of any type or degree of shielding against nuclear radiation; and WHEREAS, the Inter -Community Hospital, located in Covina, California, and serving seven adjacent cities, including the City of Azusa, proposes the construction of a three-level underground dual purpose fallout shelter and emergency hospital; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Azusa be- lieves it to be a matter of great need to develop every possibil- ity of fallout shelter and emergency hospital facility; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting on March 5, 1962, endorses the Inter -Community Hospital fallout shelter and emergency hospital project, and petitions the Office of Civil Defense of the Department of Defense to give full support to the project, both from the viewpoint of engineering assistance and advice and financially as a prototype construction for the Western United States.
