HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 4421RESOLUTION NO. 4421 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING THAT PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN INITIATED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TO ANNEX TO SAID CITY CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN AND DESIGNATED "SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT N0. 41 (REVISED)". . . The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: 1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, proceedings have been initiated by the Council of the City of Azusa, on its own motion, to annex to the City of Azusa all that uninhabited territory situate in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, hereby designated as "Southerly Annexation District No. 41 (Revised)% and described as follows: A portion of the W 1/2 of the W 1/2 of the SW 1/4 Section 2, Township 1 South, Range 10 West, San Bernardino Base Meridian, and a portion of the NW 1/4 of said Section 2, County of Los Angeles, State of California, and more particularly described as follows: Beginning at the point of intersection of the northerly line of Gladstone Avenue, 50 feet wide, as shown on map of Tract No. 18504 recorded in Book 473, Pages 47 and 48 of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said County, with the northerly prolongation of the easterly line of Azusa Avenue, 100 feet wide, as shown on said map, said point also being an angle point in the boundary of the City of Azusa, as it existed on August 14, 1962; thence S 890 410 00" E, along said boundary 144.04 feet to the northerly prolongation of the westerly line of the parcel of land described in deed to Violet M. Ott, recorded in Book D263, Page 673 of Official Records, in the office of said County Recorder; thence S 00 041 00" E along said prolongation and westerly line 979.28 feet to the southerly line of said parcel of land• thence S 890 41, 00" E along said southerly line 463.98 feet to the westerly line of Donna Beth Avenue of varying width, as shown on map of Tract No. 19685, as recorded in Book 505 Pages 8 to 14 inclusive, of Maps in the office of said County Recorder; thence south along said Westerly line of Donna Beth Avenue to the southerly line of the northerly 32.44 feet of the NW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of said Section 2, said southerly line also being a boundary line of said City of Azusa; thence S 890 59' 15" W along said southerly line 610 feet more or less to.the easterly line of Azusa Avenue 100 feet wide, said easterly line also being a boundary line of said City of Azusa; thence N 00 041 00" W along said boundary line 1,437 feet more or less to.the point of beginning. 2. That the City Council of the City of Azusa desires to annex said uninhabited territory to the City of Azusa for the following reasons: The territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa, is uninhabited, and its proposed annexation will contribute to and facilitate the orderly growth and development of both the City and the territory proposed to be annexed. 3. That the County Boundary County, California, did in session duly annexation boundaries of said "Southerly -1- Commission of Los Angeles assembled approve the proposed Annexation District No. 41 0 0 (Revised)" as above described, and as submitted to said Commission by the Council of the City of Azusa with certain revisions reflected herein. 4. That Monday, January 21, 1963; at the hour of 8:00 P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall in the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place when and where the City Council will hear protests made by any person owning real property within the uninhabited territory above described and pro- posed to be annexed to the City of Azusa. Such protests must be in writing, may be filed at any time before the hour set for hearing objections to the proposed annexation, and shall state the name or names of the owner or owners of property affected, and the description and area of such property, in general terms. 5. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published at least twice, but not oftener than once a week, in the Azusa Herald and Pomo- tropic, a newspaper of general circulation published in said City of Azusa, the City to which it is proposed to annex the aforesaid territory, and also in The Pasadena Star News, a newspaper of general circulation published outside the City of Azusa, but in the County of Los Angeles, California, the county in which is located the territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, said publication to be complete at least twenty days prior to the date set for hearing. 6. The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll available on the date the above proceedings were initiated, at the addresses shown on said assessment roll or known to the Clerk, and to any person who has filed his name and address and the designation of the lands in which he has an interest, either legal or equitable, with the Clerk, such notice to be given not less than twenty days before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation. 7. The City Clerk is directed to cause written notice to be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled thereto, in the manner required by law. 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
