HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 44880 • RESOLUTION NO. 4488 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA OPPOSING THE NINE -DISTRICT MUNICIPAL COURT CONSOLIDATION PLAN AS EMBODIED IN ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 2659 AT THE 1963 SESSION OF THE STATE LEGISLATURE iWHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Azusa has considered the arguments for and against the proposed nine - district court consolidation plan during the past four years; and WHEREAS, no improvement in economy or efficiency in the operation of the municipal courts has been demonstrated by the proposed consolidation; and WHEREAS, the consolidation plan, rather than achieve economy, would increase considerably the cost to cities and citizens due to problems of transporting police officers and prisoners, and would increase similarly travel costs and incon- venience its citizens, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Azusa hereby record its opposition to the consolidation plan and urges the Legislature of the State of California to re- ject it at this session of the Legislature. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
