HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 4483i 0 RESOLUTION NO. 4483 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA SUPPORTING INCREASED APPROPRIATIONS BY THE STATE FOR WATERSHED FIRE PROTECTION. WHEREAS, competent scientists and fire officials have d6termined that the combination of successive drought years, accumulated dead fuels, and ever increasing use of Cali- fornia's burgeoning population have created a conflagration 7,potential six to 100 times more serious than anything ex- perienced since the 1930 drought period; and WHEREAS, such severe fire conditions make it impera- tive that fire protection forces be strengthened at once to prevent major disasters involving thousands of lives and the economy of our State; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that there are serious shortages existing in the funding of the California Divi- sion of Forestry Organizational Inventory and Plan; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Azusa supports the Watershed Fire Council of Southern California proposal for increased appropriation of funds to meet fire protection deficiencies on lands of State responsibility, including additional funds in the amount of $1,984,037 as previously requested by the five contract counties to members of the Senate Finance Committee and the Ways and Means Committee of the Assembly; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the State Forester of the State of California and the Los Angeles County Watershed Commission. Adopted and approved this 6th day of May, 1963.
