HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 4474e RESOLUTION N0. 4474 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING THAT PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN INITIATED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TO ANNEX TO SAID CITY CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN AND DESIGNATED "SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 49". The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: 1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, proceedings have been initiated by the Council of the City of Azusa, on its own motion, to annex to the City of Azusa all that uninhabited territory situate in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, hereby designated as "Southerly Annexation District No. 49", and described as follows: Those portions of the southeast 1/4 of the northeast 1/4 of Section 4, Township 18, Range 10 W, San Bernardino Base Meridian and of the northeast 1/4 of the southeast 1/4 of said Section 4 described as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the southerly boundary of the City of Azusa (along Gladstone Street) as same existed on March 8, 1963 and the northerly prolongation of the westerly line of Vincent Avenue, 40.00 feet wide, as shown on map of Tract No. 23093, recorded in Book 615, pages 88, 89 and 90 of Maps, in the office of the Recorder of the County of Los Angeles, a portion of the said westerly line of Vincent Avenue and the northerly prolongation thereof, also being a section of the westerly boundary of the City of Azusa as same existed on March 8, 1963; thence southerly along said westerly line of Vincent Avenue and the northerly prolongation thereof to the south line of the northeast 1/4 of the southeast 1/4 of said Section 4; thence N 89° 54' 30" W 660.00 feet along said south line to the west line of the east 1/2 of the northeast 1/4 of the southeast 1/4 of said Section 4; thence N 10 061 02" E 1370.04 feet along said west line and the northerly prolongation thereof to a point in the said exists boundary of the City of Azusa (along Gladstone Street, thence easterly along said last mentioned boundary of the City of Azusa to the point of beginning. 2. That the City Council of the City of Azusa desires to annex said uninhabited territory to the City of Azusa for the following reasons: The territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa, is uninhabited, and its proposed annexation will contribute to and facilitate the orderly growth and development of both the City and the territory proposed to be annexed. 3. That the County Boundary Commission of Los Angeles County, California „did in session duly assembled approve the proposed annexa- tion boundaries of said "Southerly Annexation District No. 49" as above described, and as submitted to said Commission by the Council of the City of Azusa with certain revisions reflected herein. 4. That Monday, May 20, 1963, at the hour of 8:00 P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall in the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place when and where the City Council will hear protests made by any person owning real property within the uninhabited territory above described and proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, the owners of all of the territory to be annexed having filed their consent to such annexation in writing with the City Council. Such protests must be in writing, may be filed -1- at any time before the hour set for hearing objections to the proposed annexation, and shall state the name or names'of the owner or owners of property affected, and the description and area of such property, in general terms. 5. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published at least twice, but not oftener than once a week, in the Azusa Herald and Pomo- tropic, a newspaper of general circulation published in said City of Azusa, the City to which it is proposed to annex the aforesaid terri- tory, and also in The Pasadena Star News, a newspaper of general circu- lation published outside the City of Azusa, but in the County of Los Angeles, California, the county in which is located the territory pro- posed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, said publication to be complete at least twenty days prior to the date set for hearing. 6. The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll available on the date the above proceedings were initiated, at the addresses shown on said assessment roll or known to the Clerk, and to any person who has filed his name and address and the designation of the lands in which he has an interest, either legal or equitable, with the Clerk, such notice to be given not less than twenty days before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation. 7. The City Clerk is directed to cause written notice to be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled thereto, in the manner required by law. 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. Adopted and approved this 15th day of April , 1963.
