A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA DECLARING THAT PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN INITIATED
BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TO ANNEX TO SAID
CITY CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN
AND DESIGNATED "SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 48"
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows:
1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation of
Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939,,proceedings have been initiated by
the Council of the City of Azusa, on -its own motion, to annex to the
City of Azusa all that uninhabited territory situate in the County of
Los Angeles, State of California, hereby designated as "Southerly
Annexation District No. 48", and described as follows:
Those portions of the southeast 1/4 of the southeast
1/4 of Section 3 and the northeast 1/4 of the north-
east 1/4 of Section 10, Township 1 S. Range 10 W,
San Bernardino Base Meridian described as follows:
Commencing from the northeast corner of said Section
10; thence S 00 00t 20" W 20.02 feet along the east
line of said Section 10 to a point, said point being
on the northerly boundary line of the City of Covina
as same existed on March 7, 1963; thence N 860 56,
45" W 200.07 feet along said boundary line to the
intersection with the southerly prolongation of the
westerly line of the easterly 200 feet of said Section
3, said intersection being the true point of begin-
ning; thence N 00 001 20" E 205.29 feet along said
prolongation and westerly line to the southerly
boundary line of the City of Azusa as same existed
on March 7, 1963; thence S 860 56, 45" E 150.00
feet along said last mentioned boundary line of
the City of Azusa to the westerly line of that
certain strip of land described in deed to the State
of California (Azusa Avenue) recorded in Book 17832,
page 124 of Official Records in the office of the
Recorder of the County of Los Angeles; thence S
00 00t 20" W along said last mentioned westerly line
and its southerly prolongation 205.29 feet to a
point, said point also being on said northerly
boundary line of the City of Covina; thence N 860
56' 45" W along said last mentioned boundary line
150.00 feet to said true point of beginning.
2. That the City Council of the City of Azusa desires to
annex said uninhabited territory to the City of Azusa for the following
reasons: The territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa, is uninhabited
and its proposed annexation will contribute to and facilitate the orderly
growth and development of both the City and the territory proposed to be
annexed.
3. That the County Boundary Commission of Los Angeles
County, California, did in session duly assembled approve the proposed
annexation boundaries of said "Southerly Annexation District No. 48"
as above described, and as submitted to said Commission by the Council
of the City of Azusa with certain revisions reflected herein.
4. That Monday, June 3, 1963, at the hour of 8:00 P.M.,
in the Council Chambers of the City Hall in the City of Azusa, County of
Los Angeles, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place when and
where the City Council will hear protests made by any person owning real

property within the uninhabited territory above described and proposed
to be annexed to the City of Azusa. Such protests must be in writing,
may be filed at any time before the hour set for hearing objections to
the proposed annexation, and shall state the name or names of the owner
or owners of property affected, and the description and area of such
property, in general terms.
5. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized
and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published at least
twice, but not oftener than once a week, in the Azusa Herald and Pomo-
tropic, a newspaper of general circulation published in said City of
Azusa, the City to which it is proposed to annex the aforesaid territory,
and also in The Pasadena Star News, a newspaper of general circulation,
published outside the City of Azusa, but in the County of Los Angeles,
California, the county in which is located the territory proposed to be
annexed to the City of Azusa, said publication to be complete at least
twenty days prior to the date set for hearing.
6. The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to
cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to each
person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is
assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll available on the
date the above proceedings were initiated, at the addresses shown on
said assessment roll or known to the Clerk, and to any person who has
filed his name and address and the designation of the lands in which he
has an interest, either legal or equitable, with the Clerk, such notice
to be given not less than twenty days before the first public hearing on
the proposed annexation.
7. The City Clerk is directed to cause written notice to
be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled thereto, in
the manner required by law.
