HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 4573It i _ • RESOLUTION NO. 4573 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING THE JOB CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULE FOR POLICE OFFICER ATTACHED TO RESOLUTION NO. 4131. The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. Section 2 of Resolution No. 4131, adopted January 3, 19612 is hereby amended by the substitution of that certain classification schedule for Police Officer which is attached hereto and marked Exhibit A in the place and stead of the classification schedule for said position now attached to said resolution. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. Adopted and approved this 2nd day of December, 1963. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof held on the 2nd day of December , 1963, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: Councilmen:Memmesheimer, Cooney, Jackson, McLees, Ortuno NOES: Councilmen:None ABSENT:Councilmen:None i 9 0 Job Summary r� U 1-5 Under supervision, patrols an assigned beat in the prevention of crime and the enforcement of law and order; carries out special assignments in the protection of life and property in investiga- tive work; and does related work as required. Representative Duties Operates an automobile in patrolling an assigned area for the pre- vention of crime and the enforcement of laws and regulations; res- ponds -to radio messages or telephone instructions and appears at scene's of disorder or crime; notes and reports traffic hazards; in- vestigates and prepares reports on accidents, offenses and damages to property; gives directions and information; makes arrests; issues citations; gives verbal warnings; prepares reports on arrests and property impounded; directs traffic; intervenes in private or public disputes to protect the public and maintain order; appears in court, whether on or off duty.. as the arresting officer; trans- ports prisoners, investigates complaints; interrogates persons whose actions are auspicious; writes case reports on a log of act- ivities; occasionally relieves a superior officer and acts for him; serves on the desk, answering telephone, taking complaints, and operating a radio telephone in dispatching patrol cars; finger- prints prisoners, applicants, and salesmen; takes photographs of prisoners; accepts bail and gives receipts. As assigned to the Motorcycle Patrol, operates a two -wheel motor- cycle in patrolling streets and highways within the city and inter- sections for the enforcement of traffic violations; investigates traffic accidents; controls traffic at the scene of accidents. As assigned to the Detective Division, receives assignments to in- vestigate violations of state and local laws; collects and pre- serves evidence; apprehends and arrests law violators; reviews gen- eral police bulletins, makes reports of cases handled and action taken; interrogates witnesses and prisoners; appears in court and presents evidence. Organizational Relationships Police Officer is the entering level class in the Police Department. An employee of this class works under the direct supervision of a Police Sergeant, Exhibit A
