HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 4537VA 0 0 RESOLUTION NO. 4537 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING THAT PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN INITIATED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TO ANNEX TO SAID CITY!,CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN AND DESIGNATED "SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 5111. The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: 1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, proceedings have been initiated by the Council of the City of Azusa, on its own motion, to annex to the City of Azusa all that uninhabited territory situate in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, hereby designated as "Southerly Annexation District No. 51", and described as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the southerly boundary of Tract No. 19809 as recorded in Book 520, Pages 34 to 40 inclusive, of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder, County of Los Angeles, with the northerly prolongation of the easterly line of Cerritos Avenue, 40 feet wide, declared a public highway as noted in Road Book 14, Page 379, on file in the office of the Board of Supervisors of said county, (said point also being an angle point in the boundary of the City of Azusa as it existed on July 312 1963); thence S 890 35' 01" E along said southerly boundary to the northerly prolongation of the westerly line of Lot 1 of Tract No. 19225 as recorded in Book 482, Pages 34 to 36 inclusive, of said Maps; thence S 00 14' 36" W along said northerly prolongation and westerly line and the southerly prolonga- tion thereof to the northeast corner of Tract No. 19896 as recorded in Book 621, Pages 58 and 59 of said Maps; thence N 890 54' 53" W along the northerly line of said Tract No. 19896 to the northwest corner of Lot 8 of said Tract No. 19896; thence S 00 11' 58" W along the easterly line of Cerritos Avenue, 80 feet wide, as shown on map of said Tract No. 19896 to an angle point in the boundary of the City of Azusa as it existed July 311 1963; thence westerly and northerly along said boundary of the City of Azusa to the point of beginning. 2. That the City Council of the City of Azusa desires to annex said uninhabited territory to the City of Azusa for the following reasons: The territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa, is uninhabited and its proposed annexation will contribute to and facilitate the orderly growth and development of both the City and the territory proposed to be annexed. 3. That the County Boundary Commission of Los Angeles County, California, did in session duly assembled approve the proposed annexation boundaries of said "Southerly Annexation District No. 51" as above described, and as submitted to said Commission by the Council of the City of Azusa with certain revisions reflected herein. 4. That Monday, November 4, 1963, at the hour of 8:00 P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall in the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place when and where the City Council will hear protests against the annexation made by -1- 0 0 any person owning real property within the uninhabited -territory above described and proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa. Such pro- tests must be in writing, may be filed at any time before the hour set for hearing objections to the proposed annexation, and shall state the name or names of the owner or owners of property affected, and the description and area of such property, in general terms. 5. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published at least twice, but not oftener than once a week, in the Azusa Herald and Pomo- tropic, a newspaper of general circulation publishing in said City of Azusa, the City to which it is proposed to annex the aforesaid territory, and also in The Pasadena Star News, a newspaper of general circulation, published outside the City of Azusa, but in the County of Los Angeles, California, the county in which is located the territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, said publication to be complete at least twenty days prior to the date set for hearing. 6. The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll available on the date the above proceedings were initiated, at the addresses shown on said assessment roll or known to the Clerk, and to any person who has filed his name and address and the designation of the lands in which he has an interest, either legal or equitable, with the Clerk, such notice to be given not less than twenty days before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation. 7. The City Clerk is directed to cause written notice to be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled thereto, in the manner required by law. resolution. 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Adopted and approved this 16th day of September , 1963.
