A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA DECLARING THAT PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN INITIATED
BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TO ANNEX TO SAID
CITY CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN
AND DESIGNATED "SOUTHERLY ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 5711.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows:
1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation of
Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, proceedings have been initiated by
the Council of the City,of Azusa, on its own motion, to annex to the
City of Azusa all that uninhabited territory situate in the County of
Los Angeles, State of California, hereby designated as "Southerly
Annexation District No. 57", and described as follows:
Those portions of the north 1/2 of the southwest 1/4
of Section 2, T 1 S, R 10 W, S.B.B.M., and those portions
of the Rancho Azusa as shown on map recorded in Book 2,
pages 106 and 107 of Patents in the office of the
Recorder of the County of Los Angeles, located in the
County of Los Angeles, State of California, described
as follows:
Commencing at a point of beginning at the intersection
of the southerly boundary of the City of Azusa as it
existed on December 5, 1963 (in Gladstone Street), and
the northerly prolongation of the easterly line of the
west 1/2 of the northeast 1/4 of the southwest 1/4 of
said Section 2; thence S 00 09' 25" W along said northerly
prolongation and easterly line 1404.13 feet to the southerly
line of the northeast 1/4 of the southwest 1/4 of said
Section 2; thence N 89° 541 53" W along said southerly
line 659.20 feet to the westerly line of the northeast
1/4 of the southwest 1/4 of said Section 2; thence N'0°
06' 53" E along said westerly line 1035.02 feet to the
southerly line of Lot 151 of Tract No. 19685 as shown
on map recorded in Book 505, pages 8 to 14 inclusive
of Maps, in the office of said recorder; thence N 890
531 07" W along said last mentioned southerly line
100.66 feet to the easterly line of Duxford Avenue
54.00 feet wide as shown on said last mentioned map;
thence N 0 061 53" E along said last mentioned easterly
line and the northerly prolongation thereof 114.74 feet
to the northerly line of Orkney Street, 54.00 feet wide,
as shown on said last mentioned ma_p; thence N 890 351
01" W along said northerly line 184.34 feet to the
easterly line of Lot 87 of said Tract No. 19685; thence
N 00 061 53" E along said last mentioned easterly line
and the northerly prolongation thereof 258.71 feet to
the southerly boundary of the City of Azusa as it existed
on December 5, 1963 (in Gladstone Street)* thence S 890
35' 01" E along said southerly boundary 945.23 feet to
the point of beginning.
2. That the City Council of the City of Azusa desires to
annex said uninhabited territory to the City of Azusa for the following
reasons: The territory is contiguous to the City of Azusa, is unin-
habited, and its proposed annexation will contribute to and facilitate
the orderly growth and development of both the City and the territory
proposed to be annexed.
3. That the County Boundary Commission of Los Angeles
County, California, did in session duly assembled approve the proposed
annexation boundaries of said "Southerly Annexation District No. 57"
as above described, and as submitted to said Commission by the Council

of the City of Azusa with certain revisions reflected hereip, and that
the Local Agency Formation Commission of said County approved said
annexation on February 26, 1964.
4. That Monday, April 20, 1964, at the hour of 8:00 P.M.,
in the Council Chambers of the City Hall in the City of Azusa, County
of Los Angeles, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place
when and where the City Council will hear protests made by any person
owning real property within the uninhabited territory above described
and proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa. Such protests must
be in writing, may be filed at any time before the hour set for hearing
objections to the proposed annexation, and shall state the name or
names of the owner or owners of property affected, and the description
and area of such property, in general terms.
5. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized
and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published at
least twice, but not oftener than once a week, in the Azusa Herald and
Pomotropic, a newspaper of general circulation published in said City
of Azusa, the City to which it is proposed to annex the aforesaid
territory, and also in The Pasadena Star News, a newspaper of general
circulation published outside the City of Azusa, but in the County of
Los Angeles, California, the county in which is located the territory
proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, said publication to be
complete at least twenty days prior to the date set for hearing.
6. The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to
cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to each
person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is
assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll available on
the date the above proceedings were initiated, at the addresses shown
on said assessment roll or known to the Clerk, and to any person who
has filed his name and address and the designation of the lands in
which he has an interest, either legal or equitable, with the Clerk,
such notice to be given not less than twenty days before the first
public hearing on the proposed annexation.
7. The City Clerk is directed to cause written notice to
be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled thereto, in
the manner required by law.
