A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA OPPOSING ANY REDUCTION IN THE AGE LIMIT FOR
THE PURCHASE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.
WHEREAS, there has been propounded before the Assembly Interim
Committee on Alcoholism and Alcoholic Rehabilitation a suggestion that
the state lower the age limit from 21 to 18 for purchase of alcoholic
beverages; and
WHEREAS, this proposal undoubtedly would lead to mass pur-
chases of liquor by teenagers and result in increased crime rates; and
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has
vehemently opposed such a plan as ludicrous;
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby Joins the Board of Super-
visors and strongly protests any lowering of the age limit in the interest
of the community.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution and shall transmit certified copies thereof to the Assembly
Interim Committee on Alcoholism and Alcoholic Rehabilitation and to the
Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
Adopted and approved this 8th day of September, 1964.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly
adopted by the City Council of the City of '!cAtu2a ,:i'i at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 8th day of September, 1964, by the follow-
ing vote of the Council:
