HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 265A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ORDERING CERTAIN WORK TO BE DONE ON SAN GABRIEL AVENUE IN THE CITY OF AZUSA. The Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa do resolve as follows; Section 1. That the Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa deems it to be required by'the public interest and convenience , and hereby orders, that the following work be done, to -wit; First. That a cement sidewalk, five (5) feet in width be constructed along each side of said San Gab- riel Avenue from the South curb line of Fouifth Street on the North to the North curb line of Second Street on the f;oUth (excepting along such portions of San Gabriel Avenue upon which a cement sidewalk five (5) feet in width has already been constructed tm the official line and grade), said sidewalk to be constructed accor-dind to specifications for the construction of cement sidewalks on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Azusa, said Specifications being numbered 7, except that said sidewalk s#all be laid two feet from the property line instead of as specified in said Specifications. Second. That a cement curb be constructed along both 00s of San Gabriel Avenue frwp the South curb line of Fourth Street on the North to the North curb line of Second Street on the South (excepting along such portions of the line of said San Gabriel Avenue upon which a cement curb has already been constructed to the official line and grade), in accordance with - 124 0' 0 specifications for the construction of cetpent curbs on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Azusa ', said specifications being numbered 8, provided that such curbs shall be placed sixteen feet from the property line. Third. That all that portion of San Galriel Avenue from the south curb line of Fourth Street on the North to the North curb line of Second Street on the South including all intersections of Street, (excepting such portions of said San Gabriel Avenue and intersections as are required by law to be kept in order,, or repair by any person or company having railroad tracts thereon and excepting such portions of Sari Gabriel Avenue which have been graded 13a6h surfaced with clay and decomposed granite according to the specifications herein provided and to the official grade) be graded and surfaced with clay and decogkposed granite, insaccordance with plans and Profile on file in the office of the City En- gineer, and apecitications for the construction of graded and surfaced streets with clay and decomposed granite on file in the office of the City Clark of the City of Azusa, said specifications being numbered (6), except that said street shall be surfaced for the width of ten feet only along each side of the - Centre line thereof, instead of the wgole width of said roadway, as specificd in said specifications. Section 2. That the Board of Trustees of the 4W City of Azusa finds upon estimated directed to be furnished and furnished, by the City Engineer of said City of Azusa , that the total cost of said , proposed work or improvement will be greater than fifty (50) cents per front foot.,along-each'line of said Street so proposed to becimproved, as herein- bQfore set fbrth-, including the cost -of intersection work aeesssebye, upon said -frontage; and said Board of -Trustees determines that serial bonds shall be' issued to represent the cost 6Z!said work or im- • ptgvement,-',said, serial bonds shall be extended over d� �� .v, ,. a` erlvd, ending, nine (9 ) years from and after the • • iZ5 , second day of January next succeeding the date of t' said bonds, and an even annual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on the second day of January every year after their date until the whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi-annually by coupon on the second days,of January and July re$pectivgly of each year, at the rate of seven (7) per cent per annum on all -sums unpaid until the whole of said principal,and interest are paid. Said bonds shall be issued in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California,entitled "An Act to Provide a System of Street Improvement Bonds to Represent Certain r Assessments for the Cost of Street Bork and Improvement Within Municipalities, and also for the Payment of Such Bonds," approved February 27th, 1893, add all acts supplementary thereto , of amendatory thereof. Section 2. That Resolution No 259 of the Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa be and the same is hereby repealed. Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish a notice of said work, inviting sealed pro- posals or bids for doing said work and referring to the specifications posted or on file, for two days in the Pomotropic, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said City of Azusa and herdb$'de- eignated for that purpose. Said notice shall require a certified check, or bond,either, an prescribed by law, and for an amount not less that ten per cent of the aggregate of the proposals. He is also directed to post said notice with specifications conspicuously for five days on or near the chamber door of the place of meeting of the Board of Trustees. Section 4. -The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption mf this Resolution and shall cause the same to be published by two insertions in said Pomotropic I� said newspaper being hereby designated for that purpose, and thereupon and thereafter it shall take 126- I r 0 i effect and be in force. The foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa held on the 14th day of April, 1913, by the affirmative vote of at least three trustees ,to -wit; Ayes;, Collins, Barnes, Clark, Case and Roabh.
