RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF
FIFTH STREET, IN THE CITY OF AZUSA, FROM THE EAST LINE
OF SAN GABRIEL AVENUE TO THE NEST LINE OF CERRITOS

The Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa do resolve
as follows;
Section 1. RESdLVED, that the Board of Trustees of
the City of Azusa, California, having in ripen session
on the 9th day of March,1914, opened examined and
publicly declared all sealed proposals or bide offered
for the follawing wobk, to -wit;
First. That a cement sidewalk, five (5) feet in
width, be cons�rueted along each side of said Fifth
Street from the east line of San Gabriel Avenue to
the west curb line of Pasadena Avenue except along
such portions of said street upon which a cement side-
walk ,five (5) feet in width , has already been constructed
and now is to the official line and grade, in accor-
dance with and where shown upon the improvement plans,
profile and crose-section NO "B 170,and in further
accordance with special specifications designated
Special Specifications "Q", for the construction of
cement sidewalks in the City of Azusa.
Second.That a cement curb be constructed along
each side of the roadway of Fifth Street from the east
line off San Gabriel Avenue to the meet line of Cerritos
Avenue,(exeepting along such portions of said street
, upon which a cement curb has already been constructed
and now is to the official line and grade in accordance
with apd where shown upon the improvement plan, profiles
and cross-section NO "B 1711, and in further accordance
with special specifications designated Special Specifi-
cations "R" for the construction of cement curbs in the
City of Azusa.
Section 2. That the Board of Trustees of the City
of Azusa determines that serial bonds shall be issued
to represent' assessments of twenty-five dollars ($25.00)

or over for the cost of said work or improvement;
said serial bonds shall extend over a period
ending nine (9) $rears from and after the second
day of January next succeeding the date of said
bonds, and an even annual proportion of the prin-
cipal sum thereof shall be payable ,by coupon, on
the second day of January every year after their
date until the whole 6d paid; and the interest shall
be payable rami -annually , by coupon, on the second
days of January and July, respectively, of each year,
at the rate of seven (7) per cent per annum on all
sums unpaid, until the whole of said principal and
interest are paid. Said bonds shall be issued in
accordance with the provisions of an act of the
Legislature of the State of California,entitled,
"AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR WORK IN AND UPON!STREETS,
AVENUES, LADS, ALLEYS, COURTS, PJ.ACES AND SIDE—
WALKS WITHIN MUNICIPALITIBS AND UPON PROPERTY AND
RIGHTS -OF -WAYS OWNED BY MUNICIPALITIES AND FOR
ESTABLISHING AND CHANGING THE GRADES OF ANY SUCH
STREETS, AVENU];S, LANES, ALLEYS,COURTS, PLACES
AND SIDE -WALKS AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE AND
PAYMENT OF STR]UiT IMPROVEMENT BONDS TO REPRBS$NT
CERTAIN ASSESSMENTS FOR THE COSTS THEREOF, AND PRO-
VIDING A METHOD FOR THE PAYMUNT OF SUCH BONDS,"
approved April 7th,1911, and all acts supplementary
thereto or amendatory thereof.
Said Board hereby rejects all of said bids
except that next herein mentioned, and hereby
awards the contract for said work to the lowest
regular responsible bidder, to -wit; to
J. Driskill , at the prices specified
in his proposal on file for said work, to -wit;
Cement curb,per Linear foot, twenty-four (24) cents,
Cement sidewalk, per square foot, Nine (09) cents.
The "Pomotropie", a weekly newspaper of general
circulation , published and circulated in said City is
hereby designated as the newspaper in which the notice
of this award shall be published in the manner, and
by the person required by law.

Section 3. The City.Clerk of the City oflAzusa is
hereby directed to post notices of this award con-
spicuously for five days on or near the chamber
door pf the Board of Trustees, and also to publish
said notice by one insertion in said weekly news-
paper .
The Qity Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this Resolution.
Adopted and approved this 18th,dayn of March,1914.

do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
duly adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of
Azusa, State of California, and signed by the President
of said Board, at a regular adjourned meeting thereof,
held on the 16th day of March,1914, and that the
same was passed byothe following vote, to -wit;
Ayes; Barnes, Clark, Case and Roach.
Noes; None.
Absent; Collins.
