RESOLUTION NO 394.
Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa,as
follows;
Sec 1. That the public interest and convenience require
and the Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa did in
open session, on the 22nd day of June 1914, at 7;30 P.M.
at a regular meeting of said Board of Trustees, publicly
open, examine and declare all sealed bids or proposals
offered for the following work to -wit;
First. That all that portion of Fourth Street from the
east line of Alameda Avenue to the wdet line of Pasadena
Avenue, including all intersections of streets and alloys,
be greded and surfaced with clay and decomposed granite
(excepting along ouch portions of said Fourth Street and
Intersections ae are required by law to be kept in order
or repair by any person or company having railroad tracks
thereon and excepting such portions of Fourth Street that
have been graded and surfaced with clay and decomposed granite)
to the official line and grade, and in accordance with
the plane, profiles, and cross-sections NO B 19 on file in the
office of the City Engineer of the said City of Azusa and in
accordance with special Specifications designated Special
Specifications "U" for the construction of graded and our.
faced streets with clay and decomposed granite on file in
the office of the City Clerk of the City of Azusa, except
1, that such street shall be surfaced for the width of ten feet
only along each side of the,center line thereofl instead
of the whole width of the roadway as specified in said
specifications.
Second. That a cement sidewalk five (5) feet in width
be constructed along the South side of the roadway of Fourth
Street from the east line of San Gabriel Avenue to the west
line of Pasadena Avenue except along such portions of the
south side of said street upon which a cement sidewalk five
(5) feet in width has already been constructed and now is
to the official line of trade in accordance with and where
shown upon the Improvement plans, profiles, and cross-sections
30 B 19 and in further accordance with special specifications
designated as special Specifications "V" for the construcp
tion of cement sidewalks in the City of Azusa.
Third. That a cement sidewalk five (5) feet in
width be constructed along the north'side of the roadway
of Fourth Street from the east line of San Gabriel Avenue
to the west curb line of Soldano Avenue,(Except along
smch ppntions of the north side of said street upon
which a cement sidewalk five (5) feet in width has
already been constructed and now is to•the official
line and grade) in accordance with and where shorn upon
the improvement plans, profiles, and cross-sections
NO B 19, and in further accordance with Special Specifi-
cations designated as Special Specifications "V" for
the construction of cement sidewalks in the City of
Azusa.
Fourth. That a cement curb be constructed along
each line of the roadway of Fourth Street from the east
line of San Gabriel Avenue to the wast line of Pasadena
Avenue except along such portions of said street upon
which a cement curb has already been constructed and
now is to the official line and grade in accordance,
with and where shown upon the improvement plans, pro-
files and cross-sections NO B 19 and in further accor-
dance with special specifications designated Special
Specifications "W" for the construction of cement curbs
in the City of Azusa.
Section 2. That the Board of Trustees of the City
of Azusa determines that serial bonds shall be issued
to represent assessments of twenty-five dollars ($25.00)
or over for the cost of said work or improvement; said
serial bonds shall extend over a period ending nine (9)
years from and after the second day of January next
succeeding the date of said bonds, and an even annual
proportion of the principal sum thereof shall be payable
by coupon on the second day of January every year after
their date until the whole is paid; and the interest
shall be payable semi-annually , by coupon, on the
second day of January and July, respectively,of each
year, at the rate pf�seven (7) per cent per annum, on all

sums unpaid, until the whole of said interest and principal
are paid. Said bonds shall be issued in accordance with the
provision of an act of the Legislature of.the State of Cal-
iforhia, entitled"AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR WORK IN AND UPON
STREETS, AVENUES, LANES, ALLEYS, COURTS, PLACES AND SIDEWALKS
WITHIN MWNICIPALITIES AND UPON PROPERTY AND RIGHTS OF WAY
OWNED BY MUNICIPALITIES AND FOR EST4BLISHING AND CHANGING THE
GRADES OF ANY SUCH ST 'ETS, AVENUES, LANES, ALLEYS" COURTS,
PLACBS AND SIDEWALKS AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE AND,
PAYMENT OF STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS TO REPRESENT CERTAIN
ASSESSMENTS FOR THE COST THEREOF, AND PROVIDING A METHOD FOR
THE PAYMENT OF SUCH BONDS", approved April 7th.1911, and all
acts supplementary thereto or amendatory thereof.
Section 3. All improvement plans,'profiles, and cross-
sections hereinbefore mentioned are hereby made a part of
this Resolution and are referred to for a more particular
description of said work and made a part hereof.
All spepificatione referred to in this Resolution are
on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City 4f Azusa.
All improvement plans, profiles, and cross-sections
referred to in this Resolution are on file in the office of
the City Engineer of the City of Azusa.
Sec, 4. That said Board of Trustees on this 29th
day of June 1914, hereby rejects all bide or proposals
offered for said work except that next hereinafter mentioned
and hereby awards the contract for said work to the lowest
regular responsible bidder, atithe prices named in his bid
or proposal, to -wit; TO Pearson and Anderson,
Grading and Surfacing per lineal foot--- $ 1.35
Curb, per lineal foot of cement curb,--- .29
Sidewalk, per square of sidewalk, ------------10 3/4
Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby directed to
publish a notice of this award by one publicatioh In the
Pomotropic, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said
City, and hereby designated for that purpose, and shall conspic-
uously post a similar notice of Award of the said contract, with
the specifications, referred to in said work, for five days on
or near the chamber door of the City Council, and then and
thereafter this Resolution shall be in full force and effect.
