HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 3880 0 RESO,,UTION NO 3� 88,y„_ A'RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, ORDERING STREET WORK DONE ON A PORTION,OF FOURTH STREET IN THE CITY OF AZUSA FROM THE EAST LINE OF SAN GABRIEL AVENUE TO THE WEST LINE O#ASADENA AVENUE IN SAID' CITY. - The Board'of Trustees of the City of Azusa do resolve as follows; Section 1. That the public interest and convenience require and -that the Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa hereby -orders street work to be done 4 n accordance with the specifications heretofore adopted as referred to and specified in its resolution NO 382, and under the direction and to the satisfaction of the Superintendent of str6ets of said City, to•wit; First. That all that portion of Fourth Street from the east line of Alameda Avenue to the west line of Pasadena Avenue, including all intersections of streets and alleys, be graded and surfaced with clay and decomposed granite,(exeept- ing along such portions of said Fourth street and intersections as are required by law to be kept in order or repair by any person or company having railroad tracks thereon and excepting such portions of Fourth Street that have been graded and surfaced with clay and decomposed granite) to the official lina and grade, bnd in accgrdance with the plans, profiles and cross-sections NO B 19 on file in the office of ,the City Engineer of the said City of Azusa and in accordance with Special Specifications."U" for the construction of graded and surfaced streets with clay and decomposed granite on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Azusa, except that such street shall be surfaced for the width of ten feet only along each side of the center line thereof instead of the whole width of the roadway as specified in said specifica- t1one. Second. That a cement sidewalk five (5) fegt in width be constructed along the Bout$ side of the roadway of Fourth Street from the east line of San Gabriel Avenue to the west line of Pasadena Avenue except along such portions of the south side of said `street upon which a cement sidewalk five (5) feet in width has already been constructed and now is to 1 2 • • the official line and grade in accordance with and where shown upon the improvement plans, profiles, -and cross - ejections NO.B 19 and in further accordance with special specificatione'deeillneted as Special Specifications "V" for the construction of cement sidewalks in�the City of Azusa. Third. That a cement sidewalk five (5) feet in width be constructed along the north side of the roadway.of Fourth Street from the,east line,of San Gabriel Avenue to the -west line of-Soldano Avenue (Except along such portions of the north side of said Street upon which a cement side- walk five (b) feetfin width has already been constructed and now is to the official line.and grade) in accordance with and where shown upon the improvement plans, profiles and cross-sections NO B 19 and in further accordance with special Specifications designated as Special Specifications "V" for the construction of cement sidewalks in the City of Azusa. Fourth. That a cement curb be constructed along each line of the roadway of Fourth Street from the east line of San Gabriel Avenue to the west line of Pasadena Avenue except along such portions of said street upon which a cement curb has already been constructed and now is to the official line and grade in accordance with and where shown upon.the improvement plans, profiles and cross-sections NO B 19, and in further accordance with special specifications designated Special Specifications "U" for the construction of cement curbs in the City of Azusa. Section 2. That the Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa ,determines that serial bonds shall be issued to represent assessments of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) or over for the cost of said work or improvement; said serial bonds shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years from and after the second day of January next succeeding tl2e date of said bonds, and an even annual proportion of.the principal sum thereof shall be payable ,by coupon, on the second day of January every year after their date until the whole is paid; and the interest shall be payable semi-annually,by coupon, on the second days of January and July, respectively of each year, air the rate of seven (T) per cent per annum � � 3 on all sums unpaid, until the whole of said interest and prin- cipal are paid. Said bonds shall be issued -in acgordanee with the provision of an act of the Legislature of the State of California,entitled,"AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR WORK IN AND UPON STREETS, AVENUES, LANES, ALLEYS, COURTS, PLACES AND SIDEWALKS WITHIN MUNICIPALITIES AND UPON PROPERTY AND RIGHTS OF WAYS OWNED BY MUNICIPALITIES AND FOR ESTABLISHING AND CHANGING THE GRADES OF ANY SUCH STREETS, AVENUES, LANES, ALLEYS, COURTS, , PLACES AND SIDEWALKS AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE AND PAY - MEET OF STREET IMPROVE10XT BONDS TO REPRESENT CERTAIN ASSESS- MENTS FOR THE COST THEREOF, AND PROVIDING A iMTHOD FOR THE PAYMENT OF SUCH BONDS," approved April 7thr 1911, and all acts supplementary thereto or amendatory thereof. Section 3. All improvement plans, profiles, and cross- sections hereinbefore mentioned are hereby made a part of this Resolution and are referred to.for a more particular descrip- tion of said work and made a part hereof. All specifications referred to in this resolution are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Azusa. All improvement plans, profiles, and cross-sections re- ferred to in this Resolution are on file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of Az9tsa. Section ¢. The City Clerk is hereby directed to post a notice of said work inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing said work and referring to the specifications posted or an file, by two insertions in the Pometropic a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said City anis hereby designated for that purpose. Said notice shall require a certified check or bond, either, as provided by law and for an amount not lose than ten per cent of the aggregate of the proposal. Said City Clerk is also directed to post said notice with specifications conspicuously for five days on or near the council chamber door of said Board of Trustees. Section b. That City Clerk ohall certify to the passage of this Resolution and then and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect. J,S.Collins.
