HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2103RESOLUTION N0. 2103 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA PROVIDING FOR THE CALLING OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE �/O DAY OF SEPTEMBER 1947, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY THE QUESTION OF WHETHER OR NOT RAYMOND J. LAMMt LEO C. NASSER, LOUIS G. MEMIAESHEIMER, WALTER MALONE AND HARRY D. JUMPER, MEMBERS OF SAID CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, SHALL BE RECALLED AND SUCCESSORS APPOINTED OR ELECTED IN THEIR PLACE AND STEAD. WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Division 13, Chapter 3, Article 1 of the Elections Code of the State of California, and the amendments thereto, there has been filed with the City Clerk of the City of Azusa, five separate petitions, each petition consisting of ten parts, asking that an election be held in said City of Azusa to submit to the qualified electors of said City the question whether Raymond J. Lamm, Leo C. Nasser, Louis G. Memmesheimer, Walter Malone and Harry D. Jumper, members of the City Council of said City, shall be recalled and successors appointed or elected in their place and stead; and WHEREAS, the said City Clerk of the City of Azusa has filed her certificate with said City Council finding and determining that pursuant to the provisions of said Election Code said petitions each contain a sufficient number of names of qualified electors in said City to require the calling of said special municipal election; NOW, THEREFORE the said City Council of the City of Azusa, Los Angeles County, California does resolve as follows: SECTION ONE: That a special municipal election in the City of Azusa be and the same is hereby called to be held on Wednesday , the 10th day of September, 1947 in order that the following questions may be submitted to the qualified electors of said City: (1) "Shall Raymond J. Lamm be recalled from the office of City Councilman of said City of Azusa?" - 1 - l] (2) PShall Leo C. Nasser be recalled from the office of City Councilman of said City of Azusa?" (3) "Shall Louis G. Memmesheimer be recalled from the office of City Councilman of said City of Azusa?" (4) "Shall Walter Malone be recalled from the office of City Councilman of said City of Azusa?" (5) "Shall Harry D. Jumper be recalled from the office of City Councilman of said City of Azusa?" (6) If the recall prevails, should the City Council of the City of Azusa fill the vacancy or vacancies by appointment or call a special election for that purpose? SECTION TWO: That later than thirty-one days before sa published the notice of election in the provision of the Elections Code and the pertii#ent provisions of said municipal elections in Cities of the the City Clerk shall, id election, conformity to hereinbefore Code dealing Sixth Class, cause to and with referred with not be to SECTION THREE: That the inspectors, judges and clerks of said special election and the number of voting precimb tstherein shall be those appointed and hereafter designated by the said City Council of the City of Azusa. SECTION FOUR: That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to do all the acts required of her under the provision of the Elections Code of the State of California hereinbefore cited relating to and governing special municipal recall elections in Cities of the Sixth Class. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the mayor shall sign this Resolution and the City Clerk attest and certify to the passage and adoption thereof: Approved and adopted this Attest: City Clerk of the lty of zusa 4th day of August, 1947. — 2 — z I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting of said Council of said City held in the regular Council Chambers of said City Council in said City August 4 , 1947 and that the same was passed by the following vote of the Council: AYES: NASSER, JUMPER, MEMMESHEIMER, LAMM.
