RESOLUTION 110. 1974
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING 40 HOUR WORK
-WEEK FOR CERTAIN DESIGNATED CITY EMPLOYEES,
DEFINING RATES OF COMPENSATION ETC. PASSED
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA,
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as
BE IT RESOLVED that effective April 1, 1946 and subject
to the provisions of this Resolution and to the further action of
the City Council at any time,
A. 40 hours is hereby established and set
up as constituting one week's work -
time in computing the work and
compensation of all City employees,
excepting the time and work of the
employees of the police and fire
departments, and further excepting the
time and work of the heads of all various
City departments including the offices of
the Clerk, Treasurer and Library the
responsibility for which offices ordinarily
does not rest in the hands of the City
Council.

B. The rate for over-time,.when same is
earned and paid, is hereby established
at time -and -one-half.
C. In computing the present hourly rate of
pay in order to determine the over -time
rate of pay of such City Employees as by
the terms of this Resolution go on a 40
hour work -week basis, and who are being
paid at a monthly rate, the following
method shall be used, viz:
All emvloyees of the City, paid on a monthly
basis, except police and fire employees
and heads of departments, shall be considered
as having been on a 44 hour week. Their
monthly compensation, for the purpose only
of computing over -time, shall be reduced to
a per hour basis, by first computing the
number of hours they are deemed, for the
purpose of this Resolution, to have been
working per year, which ascertainment shall
be made by multiplying 44 hours per week by
52 weeks, resulting in the figure of 2288
hours per year, then the annual compensation
of each of said employees shall be divided by
2288 representing the hours worked, and the
quotient thus obtained shall be deemed to be

the hourly rate of the pay of
such employees, on which said
hourly rate the computation of
any over -time at the rate of
time -and -one-half shall be made.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as to such of the water
and Light Department employees, except the head of that department,
as are designated from time to time to stand by over the week-endp,
Saturdays and Sundays, in readiness for call, their pay shall be
$5.00 each for each week -end so stood by. If during any such week-
end so stood by, such stand-by employee is called for work, such
employee shall be paid for such work in accordance with the rates
established in this Resolution but which pay shall not be less
than $5.00.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all employees of the Police
and Fire Department whose compensation is computed on a monthly
basis, excepting Walter L. Lovelace hereinafter provided for and
excepting the head of that department, shall remain on a 48 hour
week, and the monthly compensation of -each of said employees
except the Chief and Lovelace as aforesaid, shall be increased
$15.00 per month. The work -time and compensation of police
officer Walter L. Lovelace, because of his age and years of service,
shall be placed on a 40 hour per week basis at the same monthly
salary as the said Walter L. Lovelace is now receiving.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution is not
Intended to affect and does not affect the terms or conditions

of employment of any employees of the City of Azusa except
their work -week, compensation and the rate of said compensation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all provisions of any
prior Resolutions or Orders of the City Council of said City,
Inconsistent with or contrary to the provisions of this
Resolution, and only -such inconsistent and contrary Resolutions,
shall be and the same are hereby rescinded and repealed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor shall sign this
Resolution and the City Clerk shall attest same and certify to
the passage and adoption thereof.

I, Mae A. Hynes, City Clerk of the City of Azusa,
Los Angeles County, California, do hereby certify that the
foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted by the
City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting of
said Council duly and regularly held March 18, 1946 in the
regular council chambers of said Council in the Azusa City
Hall in said City and was passed by the following vote of
Council:
AYES: Councilmen Jumper, Lamm, Memmesheimer,
Owens.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Morden
