A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANG?LES
COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, DECLARI'G AND
DETERMINING THAT IN THE OPINION OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF SAID CITY A
QUONSET TYPE OF BUILDING MAY BE

The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve
as follows:
WHEREAS the City Clerk of the City of Azusa, in
accordance with an order of the City Council of said city
instructing her so to do made July 15, 1946, did duly
advertise in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic on July 18,
and 25, 1946, inviting bids for thef.u'rxiishing and erection
of a quonset type of building, bids therefor to be presented
any time up to 7.30 o'clock P. M. Monday August 5, 1946, but
pursuant to which public notice no bids were received by
said city, and
WHEREAS the said City Clerk, pursuant to order of said
City Council instructing her so to do made October 7, 1946,
did again publicly advertise in the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic
inviting bids for the construction of a quonset type of
building on either or both of lots 40 and 41 in Block 29 City
of Azusa, which said publications were duly made October 10th
and 17th, 1946, calling for bids to be presented by not
later than 7:30 o'clock P. M. Monday October 21, 1946, and
pursuant to which publication no bids were received by said
City, and
WhERVAS said quonset type of building or other type of
building was and is necessary for the health and welfare of the
City of Azusa in an emergency:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Azusa does hereby find and determine that an
emergency exists, and that the immediate erection of a quonset
type of building or other type of building is necessary in

order to house the recreational activities of the youth of
the City of Azusa and is emergency work deemed by City
Council necessary in preparation for the local defense
of said city and necessary for the development of its youth,
whose recreational activities are now largely centered in
a building located on Foothill Boulevard, a state highway
and busy thoroughfare where said youth are constantly
rendered -liable to be injured by rapidly moving traffic
on said boulevard.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said City Council that in
the opinion of said City Council materials or supplies
necessary for the furnishing of said type of building and
the work to be performed in the erection thereof, may be
finished and performed more economically by purchase in the
open market and by day labor.
.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Azusa hereby determines and declares that public
interest and necessity demand this immediate expenditure of
public money to safeguard life, health and property.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Payor shall sign
this resolution and the City Clerk attest same and certify
to the passage and adoption thereof.

I, HAE A. HYNES, City Clerk of the City of Azusa,
Los Angeles County, California, do hereby certify that the
foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted by the
City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting of
said City Council held in the regular Council Chambers of
said City Council in said City on October 21, 1946 and
that the same was passed and adopted by the following vote
of council:
AYES: Councilmen Nasser, Jumper, 1.1alone,
Memmesheimer and Lamm.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
I DO FURTHER CERTIFY that the attest is a true and
correct copy of Resolution No. 2043 passed and adopted by
the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting
thereof held October 21, 1946.
