HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2273I RESOLUTION NO. 2273 2' A RESOLU'ION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE 3 CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIF- ORNIA, DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE 4, OFFICIAL COUNT AND CANVASS AS CERTIFIED BY THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS OF LOB ANGELES 5 COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ON THE QUESTION OF WHETHER OR NOT THE CITY OF AZUSA SHALL FULLY 6 PARTICIPATE IN THE HMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AND MAKING 7 THE RA.PLOYEES OF SAID CITY MEMBERS OF THE STATE RETIREMENT ACT AS AMENDED AND AUTHORIZING 8� THE CITY COUNCIL TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE CALIFORNIA 9 STATE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM WHICH MEASURE WAS KNOWN AS "Q" ON THE GENERAL ELECTION 10 BALLOT AT THE ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 2, 1948. 12 13 WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Azusa has here- tofore submitt&d to the members of the Fire Department and the 14 Police Department and to its miscellaneous employees, separately, the question of whether or not said employees desire to participate 15 in the State Elnployeeb' Retirement System of the State of Calif - 16 ornia; and 17 WHEREAS, a majority of the employees of all of such 18 departments of said City voted in favor of such participation; and 19 WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Azusa did there- after submit to the electors of said City on the General Election 20 Ballot at the General Election held on November 2, 1948, the 21 following question: 2 "Shall the City of Azusa, California fully 23 participate in the State Employees' ketirement System of the State of California, making the employees of said City members of the 'State 24 Employees' Retirement Act, as Amended,' of said 25I State, and to that end the City Council be authorized to enter into a contract with the Board of Administration of the California State 26 Employees' Retirement System, and the City 27 Council be authorized to levy and collect annually as contemplated in said Act, a special tax 28 sufficient to raise the amount estimated by said Council to be required to provide sufficient revenues to meet the obligations of said City to 29 said Retirement System?" 30 ` 311 and 32 JI WHEREAS the Registrar of Voters of Los Angeles County has - 1 - lI certified the result of said vote to the City Clerk of the City 2 of Azusa, and which certified result is now on file in the office the of the City Clerk; and 11 1696 in favor of 3 same and 797 against the same. 4 WHEREAS the certified result of the Registrar. of Voters of said Los Angeles County shows that there were 1696 -votes cast 5.1 in favor of the proposition and 797 against the same. 611 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND DETERMINED that at said General Election the above proposition was carried by a vote of 7 11 1696 in favor of the same and 797 against the same. E:3 911 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she is hereby instructed to certify the said vote to the State 10; Employees' Retirement System of the State of California. 11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor shall sign this resolution and. the City Clerk shall attest the same and certify 12 to the passage and adoption thereof. 13 14 15 16 17 1811 Attest: 19 a 2� 20I M.
