HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 22723 0 RESOLUTION NO. 2272 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA RE04UESTING THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS, OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, APPROVE THE INCLUSION OF VERNON AVENUE AND OTHER STREETS WITHIN THE "SYSTEM OF MAJOR CITY STREETS" WITHIN SAID CITY, AND THE EXCLUSION OF PASADENA AVENUE AND OTHER STREETS FROM SAID SYSTEM. The City Council of the City of Azusa does hereby resolve as follows: 1. That pursuant to Chapter 2 of Division 3 of the Streets and Highways Code, the City Council hereby determines and declares that the public interest, necessity, and convenience require that there be included within the "System of Major City Streets" within the City of Azusa the following described streets: a. Vernon Avenue from the south City Limit at Broadway to Third Street, and from Foothill Boulevard to Eleventh Street. b. Orange Avenue from First Street to Third Street, and from Fourth Street to Foothill Boulevard. C* Orange Place from Third Street to Fourth Street. d. First Street from the East City Limit at Cerritos Avenue to Irwindale Avenue. 2. That the following described streets be excluded from the system of Major City Streets within said City: a. Pasadena Avenue from the south City Limit at Broadway to Eleventh Street.. b. San Gabriel Avenue from Second Street to Eleventh Street. c. Fifth Street from Coney Avenue to Cerritos Avenue. d. Sixth Street from Monte Vista Avenue to Cerritos Avenue. e. Tenth Street from Vernon Avenue to the easterly terminus of said Tenth Street. - 1 - For further particulars as to the location of the above described streets reference is hereby made to- a map prepared by Paul E. Kressly, City Engineer designated "Plan No. 118-S, entitled, "General Map of the City of Azusa", dated November 30, 1948. 3. That the Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, of the State of California, are hereby requested to approve the aforesaid described streets to be and form a part of the "System of Major City Streets" within the City of Azusa, and the exclusion of the aforesaid described streets from said system. 4. That Resolution No. 2255 passed by the City Council of the City of Azusa on September 6, 1948, entitled, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA REQUESTING THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS, OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, APPROVE THE INCLUSION OF VERNON AVENUE AND OTHER STREETS WITHIN THE MSYSTEM OF MAJOR CITY STREETS' WITHIN SAID CITY" is hereby rescinded. 5. That the City Clerk be and hereby is directed and authorized to forward two.certified copies of this resolution and two copies of Plan No. 118-5 to A. D. Griffin, District Engineer - Administration;. State Division of Highways, District VII, Spring and Second Building, 129 West Second Street, Los Angeles 12, California. Adopted and approved this 6th day of Decemb9p, 1948.
