HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2212RESOLUTION NO. 2212 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, DFMLARING THE RESULT OF THE OFFICIAL COUNT AND CANVASS OF THE VOTERS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON APRIL 13, 1948. The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: WHEREAS a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Azusa, Los Angeles County, State of California, on Tuesday, the 13th day of April, 1948 as required by law; and WHEREAS it appears that Notice of said Election was duly and regularly given and that there were three voting Precincts established for said Election consisting of Consolidation of regular City Precincts for holding State and County Elections as the same were and are established by the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County, California; that election officials were appointed and election supplies furnished and that in all respects said election was held and conducted and the returns thereof made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the General Election Laws of the State of California governing elections in cities of the Fifth and Sixth classes; and WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Azusa met at the Council Chambers of said Council oh Tuesday the 20th day of April, 1948, to canvass the returns of said election and install the newly elected officers. Whereupon the said Council found that the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for, the result of said election and other matters required by law, to be - 1 - as hereinafter stated. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED ARID DECLARED as follows: That said regular Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Azusa, California, on Tuesday the 13th day of April, 1948, in the time, form and manner as required by law. That there were three voting Precincts established for the purpose of holding said election consisting of a consolidation c:1 the regular Election Precincts established for holding General State and County Elections. That the whole number of votes cast in said election in said City of Azusa was 1,641..' That the names of the persons voted for, the offices for which they were voted, and the number of votes which were received in the entire City of Azusa are as follows: — 2 — Thomas L. Said Ordinance to further provide that any dog running atlarge in violation thereof, to be impounded and disposed of after reasonable notice to the person owning or in charge of such dog. Said Ordinance to further provide reasonable penalties for violation thereof. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED and determined that at said general Municipal Election Harry D. Jumper was elected to the office of Member of the City Council of the City of Azusa, California for the term of Two years; also that Louis G. Memmesheimer was elected to the office of Member of the City Council of the City of Azusa, California for the full term of Four years; also that Anthony M. Ortuno was elected to the office of Member of the City Council of the City of Azusa, California for the full term of Four years; also that Mae A. Hynes was elected to the office of City Clerk of the City of Azusa, California for the full term of Four years; also that Thomas L. Munson was elected to the office of City Treasurer of the City of Azusa, California for the full term of Four years; that Proposition No. 1 carried with a majority vote. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall immediately - 4 - • make and deliver to each of said persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by her and duly authenticated; that she shall also impose, or have imposed, the constitutional oath of office upon said persons so elected as members of the City Council and shall have them subscribe thereto and file the same in her office; thereupon, each and all of said persons so elected to said respective offices shall be inducted in said respective office to which they have been elected. Walter Malone, Mayor of the City of Azusa. - 5 - E I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was regularly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular adjourned meeting of said Council held in the regular Council Chambers of the City Council in said City on April 20, 1948, and that the same was passed by the following vote of the Council: AYES: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Dickerson, Malone.
