HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 21930 0 RESOLUTION NO. 2193 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY CALIFORNIA CALLING A GENERAL IrUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY THE 13th DAY OF APRIL, 1948) AND GIVING A G7.. -.RAA L DESCRIPTION OF THE VOTING PRECINCTS AND THE LOCATION OF THE VOTING PLACES; FIXING THE TIP. -SE THE POLLS SHALL BE OPEN; APPOINTIDiG THE ELECTION OFFICERS THEREFOR AND DIRECTING NOTICE TO BE GIVEN OF SUCH ELECTION AS REQUIRED BY LAW. The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: That there be held in the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, State of California on Tuesday thel3th day of April 191+8 a general municipal election by the qualified electors of the said City of Azusa for the purpose of electing the said City Officers, to—wit: 2 members of the City Council for a full term of four years; 1 member of the City Council for a short term of two years; 1 City Clerk for a full term of four years; 1 City Treasurer for a full term of four years. and for voting on the following proposition: Proposition No. 1. Shall the City Council of the City of Azusa enact an Ordinance prohibiting dogs to run at large upon any street, alley, court or other public place or upon private property or premises in the City of Azusa, other than those of the person owning or having the care or custody of such dog, unless such dog be restrained by a substantial chain or leash and is then In charge and control of a competent person. Said Ordinance to further provide that any dog running at large in violation thereof, is to be impounded and disposed of after reasonable notice to the person owning or in charge of such dog. — 1 — Said Ordinance to further provide reasonable penalties for violation thereof•. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the number of votinC precincts for the purpose of holding said municipal election shall be three, to be known as Consolidated Election Precincts "A°, "B" and "C"? Said Consolidated Election Precinct "A° shall consist of Azusa City Precincts Nos. 1 and. 2 so designated and approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for State and County election purposes; that the polling place for said Consolidated Election Precinct "A" is hereby located in the City ?all Building in Block 30 of the City of Azusa, Los Angeles County, California between Alameda Avenue and Dalton Avenue. That said Consolidated Election Precinct 115" shall. consist of Azusa Precinct Nos. 3, 4 and 6 so designated and approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for State and County election purposes and the polling place for Consolidated Election Precinct "B" is hereby located in the Riley School Building in Block 49 of the City of Azusa, Los Angeles County, California between Pasadena Avenue and Soldano Avenue. Said Consolidated Election Precinct "C" shall consist of Azusa City Precinct Nos. 5 and 7 so designated and approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, for State and County election purposes and the polling place for said Consolidated �7ection Precinct "C" is hereby located in the Slauson School Building on Fifth Street between Angeleno and Sunset streets in the City of Azusa, Los Angeles County, California. That the Board of Election for such Consolidated Precinct "A" is hereby appointed as follows: Inspector: Marie L. Pettyjohn Judge: Addie E. Thompson Clerk: Yrlia G. Boudinot Clerk: Nettie M. Heth That the Board of Election for such Consolidated Precinct "B" is hereby appointed as follows: Inspector: India Sears Judge: Christie A. Davies Clerk: Laura D. Jones Clerk: Elsie M. Snyder — 2 — M 0 0 That the Board of Election for such Consolidated Precinct "C" is hereby appointed as follows: Inspector: Howard C. Chenoweth Judge: Thelma Bryant Clerk: Genevieve R. Cook Clerk: Evelyn Dorothy Evans That the polls of said election must be opened at 7:00 o'clock A. M. of the date of election and must be kept open until 7:00 o'clock P. M. of said day, when the polls shall be closed except and provided however that if at the hour of closing there are any other voters in the polling place or in line at the door who are qualified to vote and have not been able to do so since their appearing the poll shall be kept open a sufficient time to enable them to vote. That notice of this election and list of nominees shall be published by the City Clerk as required by law in the Azusa Herald and Pomo,tropic, a weekly newspaper published in said City of Azusa. BE IT FURT=HER RESOLVED that the Layor shall sign this Resolution and the City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage and adoption thereof. Approved and adopted this 24 day of February, 13+8.
