A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES
COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
THEREOF, FIXING THE AMOUNTS TO BE PAID BY THE
CITY TO PHYSICIANS AND SURGEONS RENDERING
SERVICES AT THE REQUEST OF THE CITY, AND REGULAT-
ING SAID MATTERS.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as
follows:
WHEREAS, occurences in the City of Azusa frequently take
place wherein a natural person becomes incapacitated through
illness or injuries is at the time apparently in immediate
need of medical attention, but is unable by reason of such
illness or injuries to himself or herself summon a physician:
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that in instances where
physicians are called upon to render firJst aid to persons suffer-
ing from injuries or illness within the City of Azusa, the City
of Azusa will not pay the doctor, ambulance, hospital or other
bill or bills or charges incident to such first aid unless the
services on which such charges are based shall have been first
requested to be rendered by a police officer in the employ of !the
City of Azusa at the time.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in no instance will the city pay
for first aid rendered by any physician or any surgeon, at the
request of a police officer in the employ of the City of Azusa at
the time, in excess of the sum of $5.00 for first aid rendered in
the daytime and x',7.50 for first aid rendered in the nighttime,
which first aid must have been rendered by a physician and surgeon
regularly license to practice at the time, which said amount of
$5.00 for first aid rendered in the daytime and X7.50 for first
aid rendered in the nightime by any such phys`cian and surgeon
shall include all charges of any sort or description as well as
x-rays and treatment.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all provisions of this resolution
regulating charges of $5.00 for first aid rendered in the daytime
and $7.50 for first aid rendered in the nightime at the bequest
of a police officer of the City of Azusa as aforesaid, shall
likewise apply to any and all sobriety tests or other similar
examinations.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that within the contemplation of
this resolution services rendered in the daytime shall be
construed to mean and include services rendered between 7:00
A. M. and 10:00 P. M. and services rendered in the nighttime
shall be construed to mean a,nd include services rendered between
10:00 P. 14, and 7:00 A. ISI.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Azusa shall pay no
further charges for services rendered or examinations made or to
be made by any physician or surgeon as aforesaid, unless and except
such further charges be first authorized by a member of the City
Council of the City of Azusa before the services are rendered on
which such charges are based.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that payment by the City of Azusa of
any bill or charge of any physician or surgeon shall not in any
manner impede or prejudice the right of the physician or surgeon
to collect a greater sum or any sum from the patient or the family
or friends of the patient, or impede or prejudice the right of
the City to recover from such patient or from his family or friends
the amount paid by the City on behalf of such patient.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall
be mailed by the City Clerk of the City of Azusa to each and every
physician and surgeon having offices in the City of Azusa.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 1597 be and the
same is hereby declared null and void.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the mayor shall sign this
resolution and the City Clerk attest same and certify to the
passage and adoption thereof.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly
and regularly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa
at a regular meeting of the Council of said City held in the
regular Council Chambers of said City Council in said City
February 2 , 19+8 and that the same was passed by
the following vote of the Council:
AYES: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer,
Dickerson, Malone
