RESOLUTION NO. 233;5
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES
COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, PROTESTING
THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SIERRA MADRE
A MAJOR HIGHWAY ALSO PROTESTING
AGAINST MAKING 10TH STREET AND
5TH STREET SECONDARY HIGHWAYS.
WHEREAS the Planning Commission of the City of Azusa at
the request of the City Council of said City have studied the
"Master Plan Metropolitan Area, County of Los Angeles Highway
Plan," so far as the same affects Sierra Madre Avenue east of
the City of Azusa, and 10th Street and 5th Street in said City
of Azusa, and after such study and examination, have filed its
findings and conclusions with the City Council protesting the
establishment of Sierra Madre Avenue as a primary highway, and
also protesting against establishing 10th Street and 5th Street
through the City of Azusa as secondary highways; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Azusa, after
examining into the merits of the proposed highway plan, does
hereby approve and adopt the findings and recommendation of the
City Planning Commission protesting against the establishment
of said highways.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Azusa that it does hereby protest the establishment of Sierra
Madre Avenue as a major highway, and further protests the
establishment of 10th Street and 5th Street in the City of Azusa
as secondary highways, and recommends that the plan for establish-
ing said highway and streets as major highways and secondary
highways be abolished. The City Council does further urge the
Highway Commission to reconsider said plan and eliminate therefrom
Sierra Madre Avenue as a major highway, and 10th Street and 5th
Street tnrough the City of Azusa as secondary highways. The
establishment of 10th Street and 5th Street as secondary highways
would create a dangerous condition in connection with schools
located both in the vicinity of 5th Street and in the vicinity of
10th Street in said City, and would generally create a hazardous
condition in those localities; that in the opinion of the City
Council it is not good highway planning to establish Sierra Madre
Avenue as a major highway; that the City Council takes this action
not only upon the recommendation of the City Planning Commission,
but at the request of a great number of residents, voters and
taxpayers in said City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor shal sign this
Resolution and the City Clerk shall attest they same and certify
to the passage and adoption thereof. '7 ///
