RESOLUTION N0. 2576
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA, COUNTY.OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, AGAIN REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC WORKS -'STATE HIGHWAY DIVISION, TO
RECONSIDER THE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL
SIGNALS AT THE INTERSECTIONS OF SAN GABRIEL
AVENUE, VIRGINIA AVPUE, VERNON AVENUE AND
PASADENA AVENUE, ON .FOOTHILL BOULEVARD, IN
THE CITY OF AZUSA.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does hereby resolve
as follows:
Section 1.i�Whereas, the City Council has heretofore requested
the installatig6 of traffic control signals at the intersections
of San GabrAel Avenue, Virginia Avenue, Vernon Avenue, and.Pasadena
Avenue on Foothill Boulevard,'in the C#yy,of Azusa, by the Depart-
ment of Public,Works, State Highway Division.

Section 2,. And whereas, said -Department of Public Works
16 has refused to effect.the inst.4llation of said signals.
17 Section 3. And whereas, the City Council realizes the
18 traffic dangers that have heretofore and now exist at said
19 intersections.
20 Section 4. And Whereas, on October 25th and 26th, 1951, at
21 the Govenors Traffic Safety Conference at Sacramento, California,
22 bhe Engineering Department resolved to reconsider and recheck on
23iany safety matter that might have been presented to them. That at
24 said meeting it was a consensus of opinion that the lack of safety
25 neasures was to a large extent the Cause of serious accidents.
26 Section 5. And Whereas, the City Council feels that it
27 hould be unnecessary to wait until such time as serious ;,,jury
28 r death results before taking said precautionary measures,
29 Section 6. And whereas, it is necessary for a pedestrian on
30 any occasions, particularly when traffic lis heavy on Highway 66
31 Foothill Boulevard) to wait for a considerable period of time
32 lefore entering upon said highway with even a reasonable degree of
afety, due to lack of traffic control signals.

Section 7. Now, therefore., it is resolved that the City
Council of the City of Azusa does hereby request the Department of
Public Workst State Highway Division, to reconsider their
decision relative to said traffic control signals and dogs hereby
advise said department that the City of Azusa will cooperate in
every way possible in the installation and maintaining of said
traffic control signals.
Section 8. It is'further resolved that the City Clerk shall
send a certified copy of this resolution to said Department of
Public Works, State Highway Division.
Section 9. It is further resolved that the Mayor shall sign
this resolution and the City Clerk shall attest the same and
(certify as to the passage and adoption hereof.
