HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1388n RESOLUTION NO. /3�9 f A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK OF SAID CITY TO EXECUTE A CERTAIN MEMO- RANDUM AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA - DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS RESPECTING STATE HIGH- WAY ROUTES NO. 62 AND NO. 9 WITHIN SAID CITY OF AZUSA. WHEREAS, the State of California through the Department of Public Works of said State presented a Memorandum Agreement to the City of Azusa providing for the expenditure of the 1/4 cent gas tax allocation accruing to the City of Azusa for the current biennuim, and the City of Azusa's share of the $500,000 cooperative hind for cities in Los Angeles County outside of the City of Los Angeles, asproposed in Project Statement No. 1 submitted by the City of Azusa on January 8th, 1934; and WHEREAS, the Californis Highway Commission has allotted for expenditure within the City of Azusa the sum of $4,199.93 of the amount budgeted from the State Highway fund.for coopera- tive work within the City of Azusa and additional funds from the 1/4 cent gas tax fund in the amounts and for the projects, as follows: project No. 1. - For the construction of a reinforced concrete bridge over the Little Dalton Wash, and approaches to be constructed on Azusa Avenue, State Highway Route No. 62 in the amount of $5,961.92 from the 1/4 cent gas tax fund. Project No. 2. - For the resurfacing with asphalt con- crete of Azusa Avenue, State H#ghway_ Route No. 62, from Foothill Boulevard to Sixth Street in the amount of $1,540.00 from the co- operative fund. Project No. 3. - For the resurfacing with asphalt con- crete the existing pavement 22 feet wide and for the construction of additional asphalt concrete pavement nine feet ih width on each side of the existing pavement on Azusa Avenue, State Highway -1- 0 Route No. 62, from First Street to the southerly city limits at Broadway in the amount of $2,659.93 from the cooperative fund. Project No. 4. - The maintenance of state highway routes within the City of Azusa until June 30, 1935, as follows: Route 9 - Foothill Boulevard from the west city limits to the east city limits, length approximately 1.80 miles. Route 62 - Azusa Avenue from the south city limits at Broad- way to the north city limits at Sierra Madre Avenue, a length of approximately 2.2 miles; and WHEREAS, the funds made available to the City of Azusa by the Department of Public Works of the State of California makes it possible to construct a portion of these greatly needed improvements herein described, which are of great public benefit and convenience to the City of Azusa,and further, the construction of said improvements at this time will provide employment for men residing in the City of Azusa and who are at present unable tp earn a livelihood; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk of said City of Azusa are hereby instructed and authorized to execute said Memorandum Agreement presented by the Department of Public Works of the State of California in behalf of the City of Azusa. �4 Adopted and approved this g -- day of February, 1934.
