A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY -OF AZUSA
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CHASSIS, CAB AND .BODY THERE-
FORE AND A WINCH, IN THE OPEN MARKET, BIDS RAVING BEEN
HERETOFORE REJECTED, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
CLERK TO SIGN PURCHASE CONTRACTS.
WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City of Azusa
purchase a chassis, cab, body and winch, for the use
of the City Light Department, and
WHEREAS, advertisement for, bids for the above
mentioned have been heretofore published as provided_;.
by law; and bila;have been received and considered and
such bids rejected as toohigh, and for the further
reason that from such bids the City could not obtain
just what was wanted or necessary, and
WHEREAS, it has been heretofore determined by the
Pity Council that such articles can be purchased cheaper
in the open market and further thereby obtain just the
articles and parts necessary and suitable for the City
Light Department,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Azusa that the said City purchase from
Yankee 'Motor Bodies Corporation one body, as per its
alternate bid of October 16th., 1933, for the sum of
$730.00 plus the necessary State Sales Tax.
Bt It Further Resolved that the said City purchase
from Yankee Motor Bodies Corporation one winch #963-5
Mead --Morrison, including extended shaft and removable
cat -head and Derrick Fittings and Power take off, two
speeds forward and.one reverse, at a price, installed
of $565. plus State Sales Tax.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said City purchase
from the General Motors' Truck Company, one Model T 23-B
G. M. C. chassis and cab mounted on 7.50/20 single front
and duel rear tires. complete delivered to the Azusa
Light Department, at a price of'$l,.320.95, including
State Sales Tax, the contract for such.chassis and
ddbto provide that the City pay.the sum of $181,.25
upon delivery of such chassis and cab and the further
sum of $100.00 per month thereafter until the full
amount shall have been paid.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City
Clerk be and they are hereby authorized to sign cost raets
of purchase for the above articles, in the nRme of the
said City, which contracts shall embody the Conditions
herein set forth. It being understood that the :said
Body and winch are to be paid for
in cash.
I hereby ceritfy that the foregoing resolution
was adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa
at a regular adjourned meeting of said Council held
on Monday October 30th, 1933, in the regular council
Chambers of the said City of Azusa by the following vote
of the Council:

NOTICE INVITING BIDS.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed bids will be
received by the City Council of the City of Azusa at the office of
the City Clerk of said City located in the City Hall Building in
said -City up-to-7-'V61-6-0k—
on ohday, October 16, 1933p for
furnishing to the City the following articles, to-vit:-
One truck chassis of two to three tons range
capacity with special body built as per spe-
cifications on file in the office of the
City Clerk of said City;
also
One winch for trucks three-fourths to two
tons capacity, inclusive, and an alternate
winch for one and one-half to three tons
capacity inclusive; each winch bid to be
complete with power take off.
Specifications for said winch bids are on file in -the office of th
City Clerk of said City. All specifications are open to all bid-
ders. It is ho,vever understood that there will be but one winch
purchased.
PRICES IN SAID BIDS are to include delivery at
the City of Azus:x, delivery to be made within 30 days from noti-
fication of acceptance of bid.
BIDS muss: be accompanied by certified check in
the sum of 10% of the bid offered& Check to be returned if bid- is
not accept ed.
THE CITY COUNCIL reserves the right to reject
any and all bids.

MATERIALS
Steel to be cold rolled, patent leveled oil
finished stock, which shall stand bending to 1806, or folding
material back upon itself, without showing fracture at the
bend.
Band iron for standards to be 3/8" X 1 3/4".
Wood for platform to be 1 1/4" oak, shiplap.
CONSTRUCTION:
All pressed steel members shall be formed with bends
to develop maximum strength of materials comprising bins, ends,
sides, aprons, doors, lock reenforcements, and all intermediate
parts required to tie the entire assembly into one rigid struc-
ture. Bins shall be of spot welded construction, doors shall
be stiffened by box bends at top, bottom, and sides. Standards,
or racks, riveted or bolted to cross bars of platform, and to
bin assemblies. Provide wood top bows and tarpaulin waterproof duck.
DESIGN:
The design of body shall be in accordance with attached
blueprint and this specification. .
GAUGES OF IIE1'AL:
Cross bars shall be formed of 12 Gauge steel; with
2" flanges, and height to.confoPm to type of chassis and height
of platform desired by Purchaser.
Bins shall be formed of 16 gauge steel, ends to be
flanged, and aprons double flanged to provide stops for doors.
Doors, also of 16 gauge steel, shall be reinforced by channels
to form lock fastenings for telephone locks.
Racks shall be formed of 3/8" X 1 3/4" band iron, and
shaped to provide carr�,ing space for ladder and pike poles as
indicated by the attached blue print.
The platform floor, 1 1/4" oak shiplap, shall be secure-
ly bolted to cross bars.
. Reinforcei7ents shall be provided where necessary, of
18 gauge box channel formation, to stiffen bin tops, sides,
and shelves, said reinforcements to be spot welded on centers
not less than 4" apart.
PAINTING AND LETTERING:
All unexposed surfaces of steel shall be thoroughly
sprayed with a rust inhibiting coat before assembling. All inside
exposed surfaces, and all exterior surfaces shall be finished in
color to beselected by the Purchaser and any lettering required
shall be done by this contractor. The finished job shall present
a neat and attractive appearance.
