`dHFrEAS, the City of Azusa during the past year, and prior
thereto, has been furnishing all necessary facilities for carry-
ing out a full and co*nolete recreation program, not only for the
City of Azusa, but also for that area surroundintr the City of
Azusa, commonly known as the fringe area, and
WFEDEAS, the nonulation in the frinee area has greatly
incre_.sed dvrinm the oast several years, and to such an extent
that the children in that fringe area making use of the recreat-
ional facilities of the City of Azusa has greatly increased, and
',FEI?EAS, the population in said fringe area is Constantly
increasing, and will continue to increase in the future, and
'YHF=EAS, because of said increase the work of the Recreation
Director, Mr Pacifico, has grown to such an extent that it is
impossible for one man to supervise and control and direct
recreation activities if the City is to continue to take care of
the children in the fringe and other territory, and
'aggiE'AS, the Park and recreation Commission of the City
after having examined the situation, has recommended to the City
Council that it request Los Angeles County to furnish an
Assistant Recreation Director at its expense, a copy of which
Resolution is hereto attached, and
'-FE4EAS, the City Council of the City of Azusa is conversant
with the whole situation end it is their opinion th t said

THERT A,S,' the cost of operating said recreation program by

recreation program durinp, the past year has been at an expense
of practically 522,500.00, of which the City of Azusa paid
at least r,15,000.00, and
IIHEREAS,, the expense, if,� said frimge area is to be taken
care of in the future will be considerably in excess of >22,500.0
and the fringe area
for which expense the City and -the local school district/ban-not
receive the maximum benefit without the addition of an Assistant
Recreation Director,
THFRFFO=E �E IT RESOLVHD, by the City Council of the City
of Azusa that it request the Eoard of Supervisors of Los Angeles
County to furnish at the County's expense, an Assistant
Recreation Director to assist in the recreational work in the
City of Azusa and in that County area v,hich is adjacent to the
City of Azusa,
EE IT FURThER RESOLVED that the mayor spall si-n this
Resolution and the City Clerk shall attest the same and certify
" to -the passage and adoption thereof

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly
and regularly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa
at a regular meeting of said Council of said City, held in the

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PARK AND RECREATION.
COMMISSION PEQUESTING THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA TO ATTEMPT TO OBTAIN FURTHER
FINANCIAL AID FROM LOS ANGELES COUNTY TO CARRY
ON RECREATION FACILITIES IN THE CITY.
WHEREAS, the Park and Recreation Commission of the City of
Azusa has for some time last past examined into the situation
relative to recreation facilities for the youths of said City; and
WHEREAS, said examination discloses the fact that the number
of youths who participate in such recreation facilities has, been
greatly increased during the several years last past, due to the
growth of the City as well as the growth of the fringe area
surrounding the City; and
WHEREAS, the population in said fringe area is continually
Increasing and will continue to increase in the future, and the
number of youths residing in said fringe area are using the
recreation facilities of the City; and
WHEREAS, because of said increase, the work of the Recreation
Director has Increased to such an extent that it is impossible
for one man to supervise, and control, and direct the recreation
facilities, and it is therefore urgently necessary that an
Assistant Recreation Director be.appointed; and
WHEREAS, the cost of operating and maintaining said
recreation program by the City has increased to such an extent
that during the past year, the same has been at an expense of
practically $22,500.00, of which the City has paid at least
$15,000.66,; and
WHEREAS, the expense, if the recreation program in the future
Is to be kept at a high and efficient level, will be increased;
and
WHEREAS, the major expense in connection'with said recreation
program has to do with the children of school 43e in the City

and surrounding fringe area,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Park and Recreation
Commission does hereby request and earnestly urge the City
Council.to take such action as may be necessary to obtain
appropriate increase in the financial assistance from the Los
Angeles County to adequately carry on said recreation program
and particularly request that a full time Assistant Recreation
Director be appointed to assist the Recreation Director in this
didtrict to carry on the said work.
