HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 33491 RESOLUTION NO 334g 2 A RESOLUTION OF TrIE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AM SQ, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA 3 RE-UF,STING FINANCIAL AID FROM THE CIP:�US ON10N NIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT TO CV�RY ON RECRFrTIONAL 4 FRCT_LITIES IFI SAID CITY. 5 WHEREAS, the City of Azusa during the past years and prior 6 thereto, has furnished the necessary facilities for carrying out 7 a full and complete recreation program for the youth of said City 8 including students resident in the area included within the Citrus 9 high School and Junior College district beyond the limits of the 10 City of Azusa, but which is ad.jacent thereto, and 11 WPEREAS, the nonulation in the area embraced in the Citrus 12 High School and Junior Co4ege District has greatly increased, and 13 as a result the youths using the recreation facilities of the 14 City haq increased, and by reason of the fact that the population 15 in said District is continually growing and will continue to in - 16 crease in the future, there will,be more of said digh School 17 students and Junior College students using the recreation facilitie 18 of,the City of Azusa, and 19 WHEREAS, th6 exnease in furnishing the necessary facilities 20 for said recreation crozram i;sf�;reatly enhanced by reason of the 21 increasing numner of students using` the some, and in the future 22 will continue to ircrea_se, and o ti 23 PHEREAS, the Park and .Recreation Commission of the City of 24 Azusa, after examining into the situation, has recommended to the 25 City Council that it request the Citrus Union High School Board 26 and the Board of the Junior College to contribute to the expense 27 of operating and maintaining said recreation program, and 28 WPEREAS, the City Council of the City of Azusa is conversant 29 with the whole situation, and that It is its opinion that It is 30 but fair and reasonable that the Citrus Union High School and 31 Junior College should contribute a reasonable sum towards meeting 32 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 the exoense of said recreation program TziHPFFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Azusa that it request the Board of the Citrus Union High School and Junior College to contribute towards the expense of the recreation grogram now being carried on, and to be carried on during the present year, a sum of money, of not less than 71500. BE IT FUFT�FR RESOLVED, that a cony of the Resolution of the Park and Recreation Commission filed in the office of the City Clerk be hereto attached and made a hart of this Resolution. BE IT FTJFTHFR RnSOLVED, that the Mayor shall sign this Pesolution and the City Clerk shall attest the same and certify to the-oassaveand adoption thereof. -I-G of the Citxy of Azusa AT PEST �O? C /y Clerk of'the City of Azusa Passed, apnroved and adopted this 16 day of January 195 I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly arlopted by the City C.uncil of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting of said Council of said City, held in the regular Council Chambers of said City Council in said City, Jan. 16, 1956 and that the same was passed by the following vote of the Council AYES Councilmen Fawcett, Ortuno, Johnson, Romero, Memme"sheimer NOES None ABSENT None 2 of the City of Azusa III RJ 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PA=K AND RECEPTION COMMISSIOA FF',JE�TIid1 THE CITY COb&CIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TO PTTFMPT TO O!?TAIN FINANCIAL AID F'OtL THF CITRUS UNION SCrOOL DI.TRICT TO CAR-�Y ON ?FCREATIOW L vACILITIES IN SAID CITY W=E -EPS, the Park and "ecreation Com-ission of the City of Azusa has for some time last past examined into the situation relative to the recreational facilities for the fouth of said City, and "HEPEPS, such examination discloses the fact that the number of youths who participate in such recreational facilities have greatly increased during the several years last oast, due to the growth of the City as well as the fringe area surrounding the City, and ITHEREAS, because of said increase, the work of the Recreation Director, Mr Pacifico, has greatly increased to such an extent that it is impossible for one man to supervise, co-trol and direct said recreational facilities, and it is therefore urgently nec- essary that an Pssistant Recreation Director be appointed, and bihFREAS, the cost of operating said recreation program by the City has increased to such an extent that the recreation program, during the hast year, has been at an expense of practically g22k500 00, of which the City has paid at least ,15,000 00, and 'JNEvEAS, the exnense, if the recreation program in the future Is to be kept at a high and efficient level, will be increased, an «hE EAS, the major expense in connection i%ith said recreation program has to do with the children of scnool age in the City and surrounding territory, i,1oluding youths of hi h school age.
