A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA AUTHORIZING TIS EMPLOYMENT OF SPECIAL
COUNSEL TO REPRES;NT THE CITY AS AN INTERESTED
PARTY OR IN OPPOSING THE APPLICATION OF TIM
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY FOR AN INCREASE
IN 4ATES
WHEREAS, the Southern California Edison Company has
filed Application No. 38382 with the Public Utilities Com-
mission of the State of California for a statewide increase
in utility rates; and
;MiEAS, the City has entered an appearance in said
proceedings as an interested party and the Council does find
and determine that it would be to the advantage and for the
best interest of the City to be represented by special counsel
in said proceedings and the.t public interest, necessity and
the general welfare of the City and its citizens and residents
that special counsel be employed for said purpose; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that Preston
Turner _ is/aTW (a) quallfied and experienced
attorney(sd in such matters and is/a= willing to represent the
City in said proceedings.
NOW, THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF AZUSA_ that Preston Turner
be, and __he— is/=e hereby, employed as special counsel(m) to
represent the City in all proceedings pertaining to Application
No. 38382 filed by the Southern California Edison Company with
the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California for
a statewide increase in rates and that he be authorized to
represent the City either as an interested party or in oppos-
ing; said application for a rate increase, as directed by the
City and that —he— be, and _he_ is/z= hereby, authorized
and directed to do all things reasonably necessary or required
in representing the City and in carrying out its instructions

In said proceedings,
AND BE IT FURTHER i;t SGLVED that the said
Turner !-_ be paid as compensation for his
services the sum of w100.00 — per day for all time
actually spent in the trial or in attendance at hearings on
said application and that _he__ be paid the sum
of 05.00 per day for all time spent in the actual and
necessary preparation for trial of or hearings upon said
application computed upon an hourly basis and a six -hour
day, and that the City shall pay one-fourth of the cost of
said services as its proportionate share thereof.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLt D, that the Mayor and the
City Clerk be, and they are hereby, authorized to execute a
contract for and on behalf of the City with said Preston
upon the terms and condi-
tions herein specified.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is signed and approved by
me this 17th day of December, 1956.
