HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 3526RESOLUTION NO. 3526 A RESOLUTION GIVING NOTICE OF PROPOSED ANNEXATION TO CITY OF AZUSA OF UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN AND DESIGNATED "WESTERLY ANNEXATION NO. 17", AND GIVING NOTICE OF TIME AND PLACE FOR HEARING OF PROTESTS THERETO. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, a petition signed by owners of not less than one-fourth of the land in the hereinafter described territory, by area and by assessed value as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the County of Los Angeles, was filed with the City Council of the City of Azusa on October 8, 1956, requesting annexation of the hereinafter described territory to said City. 2. That the territory which the petitioners request be annexed to the City of Azusa and which said _City and its Council propose to annex, is situate in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, hereby designated "Westerly Annexation No. 17", and described as follows: Beginninthe northwest corner of Lot 1 of Fractional Section 21, "ti+ T'ownsMV 1 Nnrth, Range 10 West, S. B. B. k M. according to Plat of said Township filed in the U. S. Land Office, Los Angeles, California, April 6, w 1876, and the Resurvey Plat filed in said U. S. That Monday, December 3, 1956, at the hour of 8:00 P.M., in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place when and where any person owning real property within the uninhabited territory above described and proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, and having any objections to the proposed annexation, may appear before the City Council of the City of Azusa and show cause why such uninhabited territory should not be so annexed to the City of Azusa. The protest must be in writing, may be filed at any time before the hour set for hearing objections to the proposed annexation, and shall state the name or names of the owner or owners of property affected and the description and area of such property, in general terms. 4. The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published at least twice, but not oftener than once a week, in The Azusa Herald and Pomo- tropic, a newspaper of general circulation published in said City of Azusa, the city to which it is proposed to annex the aforesaid terri- tory, and also in The Los Angeles Daily Journal, a newspaper of general circulation published outside the City of Azusa, but in the County of Los Angeles, California, the county in which is located the territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Azusa, said publication to be complete at least twenty (20) days prior to the date set for hearing. 5. The said City Clerk is further authorized and directed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County and to each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed was assessed in the last equalized county assessment roll available on the date the above said proceedings were initiated, at the addresses shown on said assessment roll or known to said Clerk, and to any person who has filed his name and address and the designation of the lands in which he has an interest, either legal or equitable, with said Clerk, such notice to be given not less than twenty (20) days before the first public hearing on the proposed annexation. - 6. In the event there is, upon the land proposed to be annexed to said City, a structural improvement owned, being acquired or leased by a county fire protection district, the City Clerk is directed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to the governingbody of such district, such notice to be sent not less than ten (1days before the first public hearing upon such proposed annexation. 7. The City Clerk is directed to cause written notice to be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled thereto, in the manner required by law. 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
