RESOLUTION NO. 531
A RE,SOLUTIOi3 OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF TIS CITY OF
AZUSA ORDERING CERTAIN STRIMT WORK TO BE DONE ON A PORTION OF
ELEVENTH STREET IN SAID CITY AND DETERIiINING THAT BONDS SHALL
BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT THE COST THEREOF AND DECLARING WORK OR
IMPROVEMENT TO BE OF MORE, TILUi LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC
BENEFIT AND THAT THE EXPENSE OF SAID TIORK OR IMPROVEIM7T SHALL
BE ASSE:SED UPON A DISTRICT.
RESOLVED, that whereas the Board of Trustees of the City
of Azusa did on the fourth day of December, 1917, pass its
Resolution of Intention No. - 526 to order the hereinafter deu-
cribed work to be done and improvement to be made in s id
City which Resolution of Intention was duly and legally pub-
lished as required by law, �,s appears from the affidavit of
the publisher of the Pomotropic, a weekly newspaper, published
in s^.id City, now on file in the office of the City Clerl, of
said City, and,rhereas, notices of the passage of said Reso-
lution of Intention No. 526 headed "Notice of Im-,.roveriient"
were duly and legally posted along the line of said contem-
plated work and improvement and in .front of ell the property
liable to be assessed ther=for, and on each and every street
and highway in the assessi,ient district d.escLri$ed in ,said
Resolution of intention, in time, form, manner -nd nwmber as
required by law, after the pac.sage of said Resolution of In-
tention, as apY,,ears from the affidavit of H. Ci. Jeffrey, Street
Superintendent of said City, who personally posted sw e, and
who, upon the completion of the posting of said notices, forth-
with filed said of idavit in the office of the City Clerk,
making oath that he completed the posting of said notices on
the 19th day of December, 1917, -nd ahereas, all protests or
objections presented have been disposed of in time, form ane'.

City having overruled and denied the saT.e by an of irmative

Trustees, and said Bo -rd having now acquired jurisdiction to
order the proposed irnrovement, it is hereby
R?SOLVED, that the public interest and convenience re-
quire the street stork herein described --nd the Board of Trus-
tees of the City of Azusa, State of C-ilifornia, hereby orders
the s^x.e to be done is said City, to -wit;

1st. That all that portion of the roadway of Eleventh
Street 20 feet in width and being the Southerly 20 feet of the
northerly 40 feet of said street, and between the westerly
line of Azusa Avenue and the easterly line of Vernon Avenue pre
longed northerly across said Eleventh Street and including all
intersections of streets and alleys, be graded and•oiled in
accordance with plan, profile and cross sections No. 50-A and
in further accordance with special specifications therefor
adopted by Resolution No. 525 of the Board of Trustees of said
City
2nd. Th -t a corrugated iron pipe culvert 15 inches in
internal diameter and 30 feet in length, with the center lire
thereof parallel with and distant 60 feet westerly from the
westerly line of Sunset Avenue prolonged northerly across said
Eleventh Street, -zna f'r•on a line ynr'.11el 404 and distant 15
feet southerly from the northerly line of said EleventA Street,
to a line parallel with and distant 45 feet southerly from the
northerly line of said Eleventh Street, be constructed in ac-
cordance with plan, profile and cross section No. 50-A and in
further ac,ordance with special specifications therefor adopted
by Resolution N /-535 of the Board of Trustees of said City.
All plans, profiles and cross sections referred to in this
Resolution are on .file in the of_'ice of the City Engineer
of s^id City. All special specifications referred to in this
Resolution are on .file in the office of the City Clerk of said
City and all said plans, profiles and cross sections No. 50-0
and said special specifications were adopted for said worts
by the Board of Trustees of said City by.Resolution No. 525.
That the said contemplated work or improvement in the
opinion of the said Board of Trustees of said City of Azusa
is of more than kcal or ordinary public benefit and said Board
of Trustees declares that the district in the said City of
Azusa benefited by said work or improvement and to be assessed
to paj the costs and expenses thereof, is.described as follows:
Aeginning at the northeast corner of Lot 1, Block 5 of
Azusa, as per sap recorded in Book 15, page 93 et seq., of

County, thence southerly a,lonn the easterly line of said Lot 1

thence westerly parallel worth the southerly line of Eleventh
Street and distant 50 feet southerly therefrom -to a point on
the easterly line of Angeleno Avenue; thence southwesterly
in a direct line to the southeast corner of hot 1 of Block A
of the Azusa Heights Tract, as per map thereof .recorded on
page 49, Book 11 of Maps in the County Recorder's office of
said County; thence westerly parallel with the southerly line
of said Eleventh Street and didtant 140 feet southerly there-
from, to a point on the easterly line of Vernon Avenue; thence
northerly along said easterly line of Vernon Avenue and the
northerly prolon ation thereof to a point 200 feet northerly
from the northerly line of said Eleventh Street; thence easter-
ly parallel with and distant 200 feet northerly from the
northerly line of Eleventh Street to a point on the westerly
line of Azusa Avenue; thence southerly along the westerly
line of Aaid Azusa Avenue to the place of beginning; except-
ingtnerefrom any portion'of any public street or alley which
may be included wittin the above described district, all as
shown on Map No. 300-A, approved by the Board of Trusteos of
said city on the 4th day of December, 1917, and on file in the
office of the City Engineer of said City, to which said Map
reference is hereby made for more complete and detailed des-
cription of said district.
The City Engineer is directed to make a diagr�m of the
property affected or benefited by the proposed work or improve-
ment as described in the Resolution of Intention and to be
assessed to pay the expenses thereof. Such diagram stall show
each separate lot, piece or parcel of laAd, the area in square
fe&t of each of said lots, pieces or -parcels of land and the
relative location of the sane to the work proposed to be donne
all within the limits of the assesument disttict.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa determines that
seri 1 ,ponds shall be issued to represent each asses cent of
twenty-five (025.10) Dollars or over, for the cost of said
.cork or improvements; said serial bonds shall extend over a
period ending nine (9) years from _,nd after the second day of
January next succeeding; the date of said bonds and shall sear

interest at the rate of seven (70/10') per cent per annum, and an
even annual proportion of the principal sum thereo f shall be
payable by coupon on the second day of January every year after
their date until the whole is paid; and the interest shall be
payable semi-annually, by coupon, on the second days of Jfnuary
and July, respectively, of each year, at the, rate of seven (7%)
per cent per annum on all sums unpaid, until the tivhmle of said
principal and interest are paid.
All of the proceedings for the aforesaid improvement and
for the is-suance of said bonds shall be token under and in
accordance with the -:;rovisions of an Act of the Legislature
of the State of Califerni,a, ,cuown ;nd designated as the "Irip-
rove.:ient Act of 1911", and of all. acts supplementary thereto ad
amendatory thereof.
The City Cleric is hereby directed to post a notice of
said work, toget;ier with the plans and specifications tlherefur,
conspicuously for five days on or near the cha;:ber door of the
Board of Trustees, inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing
the work ordered. He is also directad to publish twice a
notice inviting such proposals, and referri:.g to the specifi-
cations posted or on file, in the Pomotropic, a weekly newspayXLT
of general circulation, published end circulated in said City
of Azusa, ^nd hereby designated for that purpose,
