M. 153 The Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Trustees: Moon, Case, Peirce, Chenoweth, City Clerk and City Attorney. Absent: Trustee: Meier. The minutes of the meeting held Iufarch 5th, 1923 were read and approved as read. On motion duly carried the City Clerk was authorized CITY CLERK AUTHOR - and instructed to draw a warrant in favor of the IZED AND INSTRUCTED Azusa Clinic for p100.00 same to be chargdd to Music TO DRAW WARRANT IN Advertising Fund. FAVOR OF AZUSA CLINIC. 'and Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Case, Peirce, Chenoweth. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee: Meier. A petition was received from property owners ad- PETITION RELATIVE,TO jacent to Eleventh Street and Pasadena Avenue relative STREET WORK FILED. to street work and on motion the same was filed. On motion duly carried the request of the Azusa Agricultural Water Company for permission to excavate for .water pipe line along the west side of Pasadena Avenue in front of the properties of Leland Poage and M. T. Durrell was granted on condition that the street be left in as good condition as found. On motion duly carried the office of Street Cleaner was declared vacant as of May let, 1923. The following Resolution was presented: "A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA,. CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE OFFIC^n OF STREET SUPERINTENDENT VACANT AND APPOINTING WALTER LOVELACE TO THAT OFFICE AND FIXING HIS SALARY OR COMPENSATION." The Resolution was read. 'On motion the same was adopted as read. Carried by the folldwing vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, 'Case, Peirce, Chenoweth. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee: Meier. On motion duly carried the request of the Southern Counties Gas Company dated March 17th relative to ex- cavation across Centre Street boulevard was granted on the following condition namely: That the surface of the paved portion of said street be not disturb- ed; that the 3/4 in. gas service pipe be laid across the street by tunnel under the street surface by dry process under the direct supervision and instruction of the Street Superintendent at cost of applicant. On motion duly carried the request of the Southern Counties Gas Company for permission to excavate on the north side of Fifth Street from the gas holder to Pasadena Avenue, about six feet out from the curb was granted. Such work to be under the super- vision of the Street Superintendent at the cost and expense of the Gas Company. The Water and Light Superintendent was authorized ' to purchase the following supplies: 1 5 K. V. A. Transformer 1 3 Wire 10 Amp. Meter 1 Coil of looms 10 2 Wire 5 Amp. Meters 48 3/4 inch El's 20 Concrete Meter Boxes. 'Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Ohenoweth, Peirce, Case. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee: Meier. The following Resolution was presented: "A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE OFFICE OF SPECIAL AZUSA AGRICULTURAL WATER COMPANY GRANTED PERMISSION TO EX- CAVATE FOR WATER PIPE LINE. OFFICE OF ST. CLEANER DECLARED VACANT. RESOLUTION NO. 720 ADOPTED. REQUEST OF SO. CO. GAS CO. TO EXCAVATE ACROSS CENTRE STREET GRANTED ON CONDITIONS. REQUEST OF SO. CO. GAS CO. TO EXCAVATE ON THE N. SIDE OT 5TH ST. FROM THE GAS HOLDER TO PASADENA AVENUE WAS GRANTED. SUPT. L. & W. AUTHOR- IZED TO PURCHASE SUPPLIES. RESOLUTION NO. 721 ADOPTED. .154 MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MARCH 19TH, 1923 7:30 P. M. 155 POLICE OFFICER VACANT AND APPOINTING STEVE SAUNDERS TO THE OFFICE OF SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER AND FIRE- MAN AND FIXING HIS SALARY OR COMPENSATION. " The Resolution was read. On motion the same was adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Chenoweth, Peirce, Case. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee: Meier. The following Resolution was presented: "A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA CREATING THE OFFICE OF ASST. SUPERINTENDENT OF LIGHT AND WATER DEPARTIENT AND FIREMAN AND APPOINTING H. L. PIERCE TO THAT OFFICE AND FIXING HIS SALARY OR COIdPENSATION." The Resolution was read. On motion the same was adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Chenoweth, Peirce, Case. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee: Meier. The following Ordinance was presented: AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 186 OF SAID CITY EN- TITLED: "An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of Azusa amending Ordinance No. 178 of said City entitled: 'An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of Azu::a, establishing the rate to be charged by the City of Azusa for aster and water connections,' etc., adopted May 29, 1916, by amend- ing Section 1 and 2 of said Ordinance, IT ADOPTED MAY 28, 1917, BY AMENDING SECTION 2 6F SAID ORDINAN- CE. It was moved that the Ordinance be declared read for the first time and laid over to next meeting. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Chenoweth, Peirce, Case. Noes: None.
