M. 189 The Board of Trustees of' the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Trustees: Chenoweth, Peirce, Case, Moon, City attorney and City Clerk. Absent: Trustee: Meier. The Minutes of the meeting held June 18th and -July 2nd were read and approved as read. On motion duly carried the request of Felix Graf for REQUEST OF FELIX permission to place a pole and phone box in the park- GRAF REFERRED TO P. way at 9th & Azusa Avenue was referred to the Public W. COMMITTEE. Works Committee with power to act. On motion duly carried the request of Geo. A. Wellman GEO. A. WELLMAN GRANTE] for permission to remove a lemon tree from parkway PERMISSION TO -REMOVE was granted. TREE. On motion duly carried the request of C. H. La Verte for permission to cut sidewalk and curb and install a driveway into the property of Mrs. Casey on North Dalton Avenue was granted; such work to be done under the supervision of the Street Superintendent. C. H. LA VERTE GRANTED PERMISSION TO CUT SIDEWALK AND CURB FOR CONSTRUCTION OF DRIVE - 'HAY INTO PROPERTY OF MRS. CASEY. It was moved that the City Engineer be instructed CITY ENGINEER INSTRUCT - to make an estimate of the cost of the following ED TO PREPARE ESTIMATE, municipal improvements, to -Wit: The Acquisition, construction, repair, maintenance and completion of _ street work upon the public streets of the City of Azusa. CarVied by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Chenoweth, Mo.dii, Case, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: Trustee: Meier. Azusa, California. July 16th, 1923. To the Board of Trustees Of the City of Azusa: Gentlemen:. Pursuant to your instructions to make CITY E'NGINEER's an estimate of the cost of certain public municipal ESTIMATE. improvements, I hereby estimate the cost of the same to be as follows: For the acquisition, construction, repair, maintenance and completion of street work upon the public streets of theCit of Azusa, I estimate the cost to be in the sum .of 135,000. Respectfully submitted, C. L. NICHOLS City Engineer of the City of Azusa. On motion duly carried the City Engineer's report was adopted and ordered placed on file. The following Resolution was presented: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND NECESSITY DEMAND THE'ACQUISITION,'CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR, MAINTENANCE AND COMPLETION BY SAID CITY OF THE FOLLOWING MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENTS, TO -WIT; THE ACQUISITION, CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR, MAINTENANCE AND COMPLETION OF STREET'WORK UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, THE COST OF WHICH WILL BE TOO GREAT TO BE PAID OUT OF THE ORDINARY ANNUAL INCOME AND REVENUE OF SAID CITY. The Resolution was read. It was moved that the Resolution be adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Chenoweth, Peirce, Case. Noes: None. Absent: Meier. ENGINEER'S REPORT ADOPTED AND ORDERED PLACED ON FILE. RESOLUTION NO. 728 ADOPTED. 190 7 MINUTES OF'MEETING HELD JULY 16th, 1923 It was moved that the Superintendent of Light and Water be authorized to purchase the follow- ing supplies: $' 1 keg of Pierce service dead ends 1 coil No. 10 wire 2 coil No. 6 wire 10 3/4 inch water meters 7.30 P . M,: Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Chenoweth, Peirce, Case. Noes: None. Absent: Meier. SUPT. L. & W. AUTHORIZED TO PURCHASE SUPPLIES. It was moved and seconded that the protests hereto- fore filed with the Board against the granting of a building permit to A. S. Wilson on Center Street be denied and the Board do now, on the advise of the City Attorney, remove its objection to the granting and iksuance of the said permit by the Building Inspector. Carried by the following vote: Ayes. Trustees: Moon, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce. Noes: None. Absent: Meier. BOARD REMOVES OBJECTIONS TO THE ISSUING OF.A BUILDING PERMIT TO A. S. WILSON. It was moved and carried that the Water Superintendent W. SUPT. INSTRUCTED TO be instructed to bill Mr. James Rush for Water used. BILL J. RUSH FOR WATER USED. It was moved that the City authorize the purchase PURCHASE OF BRONZE of a bronze plaque for -the Street sign at a cost PLAQUE FOR STREET SIGN. of not to exceed $200.00. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, Case, Chenoweth, Peirce; Noes: None. Absent: Meier. It was moved that the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn, upon, the Treasury for BILLS. the same. Carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: Moon, ' Case, Chenoweth, Peirce.
