A RESOLUTION OF THE. CITY-COUNC.IL.OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA DECLARING ITS•INTENTION TO.ORDER THE
IMPROVEMENT OF CONEY AVENUE AND CERTAIN POR-
TIONS OF OTHER STREETS .AND AVENUES IN SAID
CITY.

Pursuant to the provisions of the,lmprovement Act, -of
1911, 2nd the Amendments to said Act, the City Council of the City
of Azusadoes resolve as follows;,
SECTION'I
That the public interest and convenience require and it
is -the intention of the City Council of the City 'of Azusa, California,
to order the following described vork and improvement in said City,
to -wit;
1. That ,Coney Avenue -from the northerly line Of Lot. X, of
Tract No. 10660, as per map thereof recorded in Book 16.4, pages
13 and 14 of gaps, •Records of Los Angeles CoUnty;,Califoinia, to the
southerly line of Fifth Street; Fifth Street from the westerly
termination.. of Fifth Street, as`shown- upon a map of Tract No., 4474,
as recorded.in, Book 124, pages 6 and 7, of Maps, Records of Los
Angeles -County, California, .to a line. three (3) feet westerly of
and •parallel with the westerly nine .of.'Virginia Avenue; Bayless
Street from the westerly line of the aforesaid Tract No. 10660, to a
line eight (8) feet westerly df and parallel with the center line .
of IVirginia Avenue;.V.irginia Avenue from,* line thirteen (13) feet.
northerly of and parallel with the easterly -prolongation of the
northerly line'of Bayless Street to the easterly prolongation of
the southerly line of said Bayless Str.eet;.Fourth•'Street'from the
westerly termination of said Fourth Street, as�shown upon the
aforesaid Map of Tract No. 4474, ..to a line eight (8) feet westerly
of and parallel with the center line of Virginia Avenue; Hollyvale
Street'from the westerly line of the aforesaid_Tract No. 10660 to
a line eight (8) feet westerly of.,and parallel with the center line
of.Virginia Avenue; Virginia Avenue from'a line six (6) feet north-
erly of and parallel with the;easterly.prolongation of the northerly
line of Hollyvale Street to a.,line eight,(8) feet southerly of and
parallel with the easterly prolongation of the southerly line of said
Hollyvale Street; and. Third Street from a line forty (40) feet east-
erly of and parallel with the westerly termination of said Thiid
Street, as shown upon the aforesaid kap of Tract No. 4474, to a line
•eight (8) feet westerly of and parallel with the center line of
Virginia Avenue, each -be improved by -certain grading, by the con-
struction'of certain macadam pavement, cast.iron water pipe, standard
steel screw'pipe" anc o er fittings and appurtenances for supplying
and distributing a domestic water supply'and for fire 'protection.
2. All of the foregoing work and improvement is fully -set
forth, delineated and described on plans, profiles; cross sections
and detailed drawings'designated, "Plan No. 5 (New Series); on file
in the office of the City Clerk of said'City, heretofore approved
by the City Council of the City of Azusa.on the .3 4day of
September, 1929, by Resolution No. 1/ % 3 , and in ('Specifications
No. 2 (New S,eries)[!,'adopted by Resolution No. //Z ?i of the City
Council of the.Cty of. Azusa and on file in the office of the City
Clerk of said City. The said plans, profiles', cross sections,
detailed.:drawings and specifications are hereby referred. to for the
full.and detailed description of the said proposed work and improvement.
3. The grades to which the work provided for shall be done
arid,the improvement made upon those portions of the streets herein-
before described, which are provided for in this Resolution,.are
the grades',shown on the profiles therefor on file in the office
of. the City Clerk of said City, to which said profiles reference
is hereby made for the description of said.grades.
SECTION I2.
That the City Council'also determines and declares that
serial bonds bearing interest.at the rate of seven (7).per cent
per annum shall be issued to represent each assessment, -of twenty-
five (25.00) Dollars, or more, remaining unpaid for thirty (30)
days after the date of .the warrant. Said serial bonds shall extend

over 'a period, ending nine (9) years.from the second -day of.January
next succeeding the 15th day of the next November following their
date. payments on the.princip4l ofunpaid assessments, and interest,
shall be made by property owners to the City Treasurer and the same
shall be disbursed by him, all as,provided in the said Improvement
Act of 1911.
SECTION III
That.the contemplated work and improvement hereinbefore
mentioned is, in the opinion of said City Council, of more -than'
local or ordinary public benefit and the expense of said work and
improvement is'made chargeable upon the district -hereinafter .
'.described and said City Council does hereby declare said district
to be the district benefited by said.work and improvement and to
be assessed to,pay the costs and expenses thereof, which district
is'bounded and described as follows., to -wit:.
Beginning at the northwesterly corner of Lot 1, of
Tract No. 10860, as per map thereof recorded.in Book 164, pages
13 .and 14, of Maps,. Records of Los Angeles County; California; thence
southerly in a direct line to the southwe'sterly:corner of Lot R „
of the aforesaid Tract No. 10660; thence easterly in a direct line
to the southwesterly corner of Lot 52, of Tract No..7625; as per
map thereof. recorded in Book 73, pages 33 and 34,of FSaps., Records
of Los Angeles County, California; thence northerly along the
easterly line of Virginia Avenue to the northeasterly.corner of
Virginia Avenue and Fifth Street; thence westerly in a direct line
to the northwesterly corner of said Virginia Avenue and Fifth
Street; thence northerly along the westerly .line of said Virginia -
Avenue, a distance of 196.98 feet; thence westerly along a line,
which line is 196.98 feet northerly of and.parallel with the,
northerly line of Fifth Street, to its intersection with the north-
erly prolongation of the westerly line of..the aforesaid Tract No.,*

.10660; thence southerly.in a direct line,to the place of -beginning,
excepting therefrom any,lands forming any part of any public street
or alley.
The above description is general only. A'Plat or Map
No. 6 (New Series)' of said assessment district, adopted by
Resolution No: ,�/% 3 'of the City Council of said City, indicating
by.a boundary line the extent of. the territory included in -the
:proposed district., is on file.in'the office o£ the City Clerk.
,Reference is hereby made to said plat or map fora further full
and complete description of,the said assessment district. The
said map or..plat so .on file.shall „govern for.all details as to the
extent of.the said assessment district.
SECTION IV.
Notice /is hereby given that on�ay, the .23f� day
of �'1929;'8 Lt 7;30-o"cloc��k, P.M. in the Council
Chamber of the City Hall of the said City of Azusa, .any and all
persons having, -any objections to the proposed work or improvement,
the grades, or.to. the' extent of the assessment district, or both,
.may appear before the said City Council and show cause why said
`proposed improvement should not be.carried out in accordance with
this Resolution.
SECTION V'.
The Azusa Herald,.a weekly..newspaper printed, published
and circulated in the City of Azusa; is hereby designated:as ;tire
newspaper.in which this Resolution of*Intention shall be 'published
and for -the publication of all other notices, resolutions, orders
or other matter required to be -published by the provisions of
the Improvement• Act of 1911, hereinbefore referred.to, and the
City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to cause this Resolution
of Intention to be. published -by. tW6 (2) insertions• in said

newspaper in the manner and form required by. law. The City Council
does not deem -it advisable that the Clerk.mail copies of the
Notice'of Improvement'.to owners, or reputed owners, and she is not .
required to mail the same.
SECTION VI.
The Street .Super intendent of said City„shall, after
the adoption of said Resolution of Intention, cause to be conspicu-
ously posted along the lines of said contemplated work or improve-
ment, and along all the open streets within the hereinbefore
described assessment.district, notices„bf the passage of this
Resolution of Intention; in the manner and form required by law.
SECTION VII
All the proceedings for the aforesaid work'and_impr,ovement
shall be had and taken under and in accordance with the provisions
of an Act of the Legislature of the State ... of`California designated
as the °Improvement Act of 19il”, approved April 7th, 1911, and
Amendments thereto.
