HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1085I 0 M RESOLUTION NO. /0 J'J— A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE OFFICIAL COUNT AND CANVASS OF THE VOTES OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE SAID CITY ON APRIL 9, 1928. WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Azusa, County of Los Angeles, State of California, on Monday, the 9th day of April, 1928, as required by law; and WHEREAS, it appears that notice of said election was duly and legally given and that there was one voting precinct established for holding said election, consisting of consolidation of regular City Precincts for holding State and County elections, as the same were established by the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County on the 29th day of December, 1925, and now being on record in Book 87-A of the Minutes of the said Board of Supervisors; that election officers were appointed and election supplies furnished, and that in all respects said election -was held and conducted and the returns thereof made and declared, in time, form and manner as required by the General Laws of the State of Calif- ornia governing elections in cities of the fifth and sixth classes; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Azusa met at the Council Chamber of said Council on Monday the 16th day of April, 1928, to canvass the returns of said election and install the newly elected officers, whereupon the said 6ouncil found that the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for, the result of said election and other matter required by law, to be as hereinafter stated, NOW THEREFORE ---- IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AND DECLARED AS FOLLOWS: That said regular Municipal Election was held and con- ducted in the City of Azusa, California, on Monday the 9th day of April, 1928, in time, form and manner as required by law; That there was one voting precinct established for the purpose of holding said election, consisting of a consolida- tion of the regular election precincts established for hold.- ing general State and County elections as follows: That the whole number of votes cast in said City of Azusa at said election was 795: That the names of the persons voted for, the of- fices for which they were voted, the number of votes which they received in the entire City of Azusa are as follows: -1- IL N .• • - • 182 NAMES OF PERSONS OFFICE VOTED FOR: PRECINCT: TOTAL VOTED: (Four year term) Consolidated VOTES: FORT MEIER Member of the Voting Pre- 1 City Council cinct "A" ELMER E. Dilley was elected to the office of Member of the City Council of the City.of Azusa, California, for the full term of four (4) years; Also that Thomas A. Smite was elected to the office of Member of the City Council of the ity of Azusa, California, for the full term of four (4) years; Also that H. Robert Smith was elected to the office of City Clerk for the full term of four (4) years. Also that Vlm. J. Holden was elected to the office of City Treasurer for the full term of four (4) years. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each of such persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by him and duly authen- ticated; that he shall also impose the constitutional oath of I -2- N 0 • __ office upon said persons so elected as Members of the City Council of said City, and City Clerk and the City Treasurer and shall have them subscribe thereto and file the same in his office; whereupon, each and all of said persons so elected to said respective offices shall be inducted into said res- pective office to which they have been elected. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a.recular meeting held this 16th day of April, 1928, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: Councilmen: NOES: ABSENT: I iLr Ay Cferk oof the'ity of Azusa.
