HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 108411 j 1 R E S O L U T I O N No. /D kc� 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA 3 ODERING; CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR AND IVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON �e THE 4 DAY OF MAY:..1928, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY THE QUESTION OF WHETHER OR NOT MOSES'T. DURRELL 5 ,AND ROY E. MARTIN, OR EITHER OF THEM, SHALL BE RECALLED FROM THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN OF THE CITY OF AZUSA: PROVIDING FOR AND 6 DESIGNATING AN ELECTION PRECINCT: DESIGNATING THE POLLING PLACE: APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS: AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF 7 ELECTION SUPPLIES FOR SAID ELECTION. 8 The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as 9 follows: 10 WHEREAS the necessary petitions have been presented to the City of Azusa by citizens of said City, petitioning said City 11 Council to call an election as provided by law for the purpose of recalling Moses T. Durrell and Roy E. Martin, or either or both of 12 them from the office'of City Councilman of the said city of Azusa, said petitions being certified by the City Clerk of the said City 13 as containing -the requisite number of signatures of qualified voters of said.,City. 14 NOW THEREFORE, BE 1T FURTHER RESOLVED that a special 15 municipal election be and the same is hereb authorized and ordered to be held in the City of Azusa,.on fi a-, the P- - 16 day of May,. 1928-; for the purpose of voting upon'the question of Whether or not said Councilmen, Moses T. Durrell and Roy E. Martin, 17 or either or both shall be recalled from his office. 18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that for the purpose of holding said special municipal election said City is consolidated into and 19 shall constitute; and is hereby designated and declared to be, one election precinct, the external boundaries of which are co -terminous 20 with the boundary lines of said City; that said special election precinct shall have one polling place which shall be 21 In .the Auditorium on the East side of the City 22 Hall, located between Alameda and Dalton Avenues being in Block 30 of the City of Azusa; 23 and that the following named persons are hereby appointed election 24 officers in said,precinct.for such election: 25 Inspector:.tl 26 Judges: T C. V 2_,V_ ` 27 Clerks: 17�7""�e 28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the polls of said election 29 shall be opened at six o'clock on the morning of said election, and shall be kept open until seven o'clock on the afternoon of the same 30 day, when the polls shall be closed; except and provided, however, that if at the said hour of closing there are any voters in the 31 polling place, or in the line at the door thereof, who are qualified to vote and have note been able to vote since appearing, the polls . 32 shall be kept open a sufficient time to enable them to vote; but no r ,. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 • W person who shallrrive at the polls after seven o'clock in the afternoon shall9"Ve entitled to vote, although the polls may have been open when be arrived; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the compensation.of the said election officials be and the same is hereby fixed at the sum of eight ($8.00) dollars each for said election; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, if any of the members .of said board of election hereinbefore named are not qualified to act or _fail to'appear at the opening of the polls on the morning of such election, qualified electors present, including members of said board shall appoint in -his or her place an elector who is qualified, in the manner provided by the general election laws of the State of Califor— nia, who shall take the required oath of office as provided by said general election laws. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized nix to purchase all supplies necessary and inci— dent to said election, and to do all other things necessary and incident to the holding of said election; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall publish this resolution once a week for two(2) suet sive week prior to said date of said election in the Fe r ' , a weekly newspaper of general circulation established, printed, published and circulated in said City of Azusa.
