RESOLUTION NO. 1050
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA FINDING AND DETERMINING"THAT PUBLIC. INTEREST AND
NECESSITY REQUIRE THE ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN LANDS FOR
THE ERECTION AND CONSTRUCTION OF A CITY HALL AND DIRECT-
ING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO INSTITUTE PROCEEDINGS IN THE
PROPER COURT FOR THE CONDEMNATION OF THOSE LANDS.
The City Council of the City of Azusa do
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the City of
Azusa'. 'in the County of Los Angeles and State of California,
by Resolution No. 944, adopted by a vote of more than two-
thirds of all its members at a regular meeting of said Board
of Trustees held on Monday, the 3rd day of January, 1927, at
the regular meeting place of said Board in the Council
Chamber thereof in the City Hall of said City at the north-
east corner of Foothill Boulevard and Alameda Avenue in
said City, did determine and declare that the public interest
and necessity of said City demanded the acquisition and con-
struction of a City Hall, including the acquisition of the
necessary lands and the acquisition or construction of the
necessary building, structures, equipment and furniture there-
for, and that the estimated cost of said improvement is the
sum of Seventy-five Thousand Dollars ($75,000.00), providing
that no greater portion thereof than the sum of Twenty=five
Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) shall be expended for the ac-
quisition of the necessary lands, and;
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the City of
Azusa did by Ordinance No. 264, duly adopted on the 7th day
of February, 1927, and duly approved by the President of said
Board on the 8th day of February, 1927, call and order to be
held in the said City a Special Municipal Election on Tuesday,
the 15th day of March, 1927, for the purpose of submitting to
the qualified voters of said City the following proposition:

SHALL THE CITY OF AZUSA INCUR A BONDED DEBT
IN THE SUM OF SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
("75,000.00) FOR THE PURPOSE OF ACQUIRING
AND CONSTRUCTING CERTAIN MUNICIPAL IMPROVE-
MENTS, TO -WIT: THE ACQUISITION AND CON-
STRUCTION OF A CITY HALL, INCLUDING THE AC-
QUISITION OF THE NECESSARY LANDS AND THE
ACQUISITION OR CONSTRUCTION OF THE NECESSARY
BUILDING, STRUCTURES, EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE
THEREFOR; PROVIDED THAT NO GREATER PORTION
THEREOF THAN T4'lENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($25,000.00) SHALL BE EXPENDED FOR THE ACQUI-
SITION OF THE NECESSARY LANDS;
WHEREAS, said Ordinance No. 264 calling and order-
ing said Special Municipal Election was certified and pub-
lished in the form, time and manner required by law and by
said Ordinance.
WHEREAS, it appears that said Special Municipal
Election was duly held in accordance with the provisions of
the law of the State of California and of said Ordinance on
the 15th day of March, 1927, and that said Special Municipal
Election was held and the vote thereat received and canvassed
and the returns thereof ascertained, determined and declared
in the time, form and manner required by the laws of the State
of California and by said Ordinance, and,
WHEREAS, on Monday the 21st day of March 1927, the
Board of Trustees of the said City met at their usual place of
meeting and proceeded to and did canvass the returns of said
Municipal Election as required by law in the said Ordinance
and therein resolved, d eclard, and. determined that more than
two-thirds of said voters voting at said Municipal Election
in said City voted in favor of said proposition and that said
proposition had duly carried as required by law and,
WHEREAS, 'in compliance with said Ordinance and the
laws of the State of California, the City of Azusa did there-
after, to -wit, on the 29th day of June 1927, incur a bonded
debt in the sum of Seventy-five Thousand Dollars (;75,000.00)
for the purpose of acquiring and constructing said City Hall,
including the acquisition of the necessary lands therefor,
and,
WHEREAS, the following property, to -wit:

THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council
of the City of Azusa,being the Legislative Body thereof, has
found and determined and hereby finds and determines that
the public interest and necessity require the acquisition by
the City of Azusa of certain real property necessary for the
construction and erection of said City Hall and grounds there=
for, which real property is described as follows, to -wit:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Attorney of
the City of Azusa is hereby authorized, empowered and directed

to bring an action in the name of the said City of Azusa
in the Superior Court of the State of California, in and
for the County of Los Angeles, for the condemnation of the
real property hereinbefore described, which property is re-
quired by the public interest and necessity to be acquired
by said City and lands necessary for the erection and con-
struction of said City Hall and grounds therefor;
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
and adoption of this resolution by a vote of two-thirds of
the members of the City Council of said City and shall make
entry of the said adoption thereof in the minutes of the
meeting at which the same is adopted and shall cause the
said resolution together with his certificate to be entered
in the book of resolutions of said City.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution
was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa
at a regular meeting held November 7, 1927 by the following
vote of the Council:
AYES: Councilmen: Howard, Martin, Meier,
Chenoweth, Durrell.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
