OF ROSS FIELD AS QUARTZRS FOR HCUS I:iG THE UNEMPLOYED.
i'7HEREAS it has been broughtto the atten-
tion of the City Council cf the City of Azusa that the War Depart-
ment is contemplating to use Ross Field near the City of Arcadia
in Los Angeles County, California, as quarters for housing a large
number of unemployed, and
WHEREAS the use of Ross Field for such pur-
pose would bring to this section large numbers of unemployed
people who might. later become a charge to this County and to the
different communities in the San Gabriel Valley, and
'WHEREAS to use Ross Field for such purpose
would bring to this section a great many floaters and unattached
men necessitating additional police protection in all surrounding
communities and would further increase the danger of bringing
here and spreading contagious diseases of all kinds, and
TMEREAS using said Ross Field for such a
purpose would have a demoralizing effect upon the City of Arcadia
and all communities in the San Gabriel Valley and would tend to
endanger the homes and the welfare of the residents in said Valley,
and
WHEREAS the 'buildings on Ross Field are de -
a
moralized and delapidated and in a poor and unhealthy condition and
to occupy them without expending large sums of money for rohabili-
.tating the same amd making them healthy and wholesome places, r:ould
endanger the health of this Section of the State;
