A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA, PROTESTING TO THE MEMBERS OF THIS SENATE AND ASSEMBLY
DISTRICT, AGAINST THE ENACTMENT OF SENATE BILLS NOS. 526 and
527, and also ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 573;
as follows:
The City Council of the City of Azusa do ordain
WHEREAS, there has been introduced into the
State Legislature of the State of California now in session,
Senate Bills Nos. 526 and 597 and also Assembly Bill No. 573;
and,
WHEREAS, said Senate Bills Nos 526 and 527
provide in substance that all fines and forfeitures imposed for
violation of "all city ordinances regulating traffic" shall be
deposited in a new fund and "expended by the County exclusively";
and,
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 573 in effect pro-
vides that when an arrest is made by a County or Township offi-
cer for violation of a State law, the fines and forfeitures shall
be paid into the County Treasurer, notwithstanding the fact that
the expense of maintaining the trial court including the salary
of the police justice or recorder, is paid by the city or towns
and,
WHEREAS, said bills if enacted into laws are
prejudicial to the interests of cities -and towns and would un-
fairly and unljustly deprive cities and towns of fines and monies
justly due to the cities whose ordinances may be violated and
would unfairly place upon cities and towns the burden of main-
taining courts for the benefit of the county;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council
of the City of Azusa that we protest against the enactment of

and to our member of the Assembly, the Honorable Harry Sewell,
and we do hereby respectfully urge you and each of you to use
your influence against the enactment of said Senate and
Assembly Bills, and that if said bills are presented to your
respective Houses for a vote that you vote against the same
for the reasons that said bills if enacted into law would be
detrimental to the interests of your constituency.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this
Resolution be sent to our Senator, the Honorable Ralph H.
Clock, and a copy to our Assemblyman, the Honorable Harry
Sewell.
I hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted by the City Council
of the City
of said
Bills to our Senator,
the
Honorable
Ralph H. Clock,
and to our member of the Assembly, the Honorable Harry Sewell,
and we do hereby respectfully urge you and each of you to use
