A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC NECESSITY
AND CONVENIENCE REQUIRE THAT VERNON AVENUE,
ELEVENTH STREET, SECOND STREET AND SOLDANO AVEC'
NUE WITHIN SAID CITY BE IMPROVED FROM FUNDS
ALLOCATED BY LOS ANGELES COUNTY OUT OF ITS SHARE
OF MONEYS COLLECTED FROM THE LEVY OF TAXES ON
MOTOR VEHICLE FUEL AND DISTRIBUTED TO SAID COUNTY
BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR THE 1938-1939
FISCAL YEAR.
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles receives a distri-
bution from the State of California out of its share of moneys
collected from the levy of taxes on motor vehicle fuel and said
Los Angeles County has allocated to the City of Azusa the sum of
$3,823.47 for the 1938-1939 fiscal year for the improvement of
streets within said City; and
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles requires that the
City of Azusa determine and submit for approval the streets which
it proposes to improve from the funds allocated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Azusa, after a careful and thorough survey of the
respective streets within said City, hereby determines and declares
that the public necessity and convenience require the improvement
of the following described streets and portions thereof:
1. ELEVENTH STREET from a line 150 feet west of the west
line of Orange Avenue to the northerly prolongation of the westerly
line of Vernon Avenue be improved by grading the area lying between
the northerly line of the existing macadam pavement and a line 6
feet northerly thereof, and between the southerly line of the ex-
isting pavement and a line 6 feet southerly thereof, and the con-
struction upon such graded areas of a disintegrated granite base 4
inches in thickness, and the construction of an asphaltic concrete
(nre-mix) wearing surface 1 1/2 inches in thickness upon the existing
ma.cs.da.m pavement (18 feet in width) and upon the aforementioned dis-
integrated granite base of a, total width of 30 feet, at a total

estimated cost of $920.00.
2. VERNON AVENUE from the southerly line of Eleventh
Street to the southerly line of Crescent Drive be improved by
grading the area lying between.the westerly line of the existing
macadam pavement and a line 6 feet westerly thereof, and between
the easterly line of the existing pavement and a line 6 feet east-
erly thereof, and the construction upon such graded areas of a
disintegrated granite base 4 inches in thickness, and the construc-
tion of an asphaltic concrete (pre -mix) wearing surface 1 1/2 inches
In thickness upon the existing macadam pavement (16 feet in width)
and upon certain portions of the aforementioned disintegrated granite
base, of a total width of 24 feet, at a total estimated cost of
01,150.00.
3. SECOND STREET from San Gabriel Avenue to Azusa Avenue
be improved by grading the areas lying between the southerly line of
the existing macadam pavement and a line 8 feet southerly thereof,
and between the northerly line of the existing macadam pavement and
a line 8 feet northerly thereof, and the construction upon these
graded areas of a disintegrated granite base 4 inches in thickness,
and the construction of an asphaltic concrete (pre -mix) wearing sur-
face 1 1/2 inches in thickness upon the existing macadam pavement
(16 feet in width) and upon the aforementioned disintegrated granite
base of a total width of 32 feet, at a total estimated cost of $480.00.
4. SOLDANO AVENUE from Third Street to Fourth Street be
improved by grading the areas lying between the existing macadam
pavement (21 feet in width) and the nearest curb lines, and the con-
struction upon such graded areas of a disintegrated granite base,
4 inches in thickness, and the construction of an asphaltic concrete
(pre -mix) wearing surface 1 1/2 inches in thickness upon the existing
pacadam pavement and upon the aforementioned disintegrated granite
bene of a total width of 46 feet, at a total estimated cost of
101,273.47.

Total estimated cost of all streets to be improved as
given above, $3,823.47.
ARID BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in connection with the
construction of said improvements, the City of Azusa will furnish
at its own cost and expense the services of its Street Superinten-
dent, and the use of one 12 -ton Road Roller, one patrol grader,
three trucks, and such other equipment as the City now has in order
that said work may be completed in a satisfactory and expeditious
manner.
The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized
and instructed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to
the Honorable Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County, California,
accompanied by a request that the amount of $3,823.47 allocated by
said County to the City of Azusa for the improvement of said streets
herein mentioned be transmitted as soon as these funds are available
for distribution.in order that the work of construction may be
commenced.
