RESOLUTION NO. 3.789
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 1713 ADOPTED BY SAID CITY COUNCIL
ON APRIL 21, 1941 IN THE MATTER OF THE IMPROVEMENT OF CER-
TAIN STREETS WITHIN SAID CITY FROM FUNDS ALLOCATED BY LOS
ANGELES COUNTY OUT OF ITS SHARE OF MONEYS COLLECTED FROM
THE LEVY OF TAXES ON MOTOR VEHICLE FUEL AND DISTRIBUTED
TO SAID COUNTY BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR THE 1940-
1941 FISCAL YEAR.
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Azusa did on
the 21st. day of April, 1941 adopt Resolution No. 1713, entitled, "A
Resolution of the City Council of the City of,Azusa amending Resolu-
tion No. 1708 entitled "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of
Azusa determining that the public necessity and convenience require
that Fourth Street and First Street within said City be improved from
funds allocated by Los Angeles County out of its share of moneys col-
lected from the levy of taxes on motor vehicle fuel and distributed to
said County by the State of California for the 1940-1941 fiscal year."
WHEREAS subsequent to the adoption of said Resolution
No. 1713 it was discovered,'that all of the streets mentioned therein Could
not be improved with.the,funds.'allocated. by Los.Angeles County for the
1940-1941 fiscal year and by,reason thereof the City Council of the City
of Azusa ordered' -its Street Department to improve only portions of
Dalton Avenue, Soldano Avenue, Pasadena Avenue, Alameda Avenue, Fifth
Street, and Sixth Street from the funds allocated.by said Los Angeles
County, and
WHEREAS the County of Los Angeles requires that the
City of Azusa.determine and submit for approval the streets which it
-proposes to improve from funds allocated by said County:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of -Azusa does hereby amend its Resolution No. 1713 adopted on
the 21st day of April 1941, in so far as ,the same relates to the streets
..to be improved and the type of improvements to be constructed, to read
as follows:
The City Council of the City of Azusa hereby determines
and declares that the public necessity.and convenience required the im-

provement of the areas of the roadway,where the original pavement
had to be removed by reason of the construction of sanitary sewers
and appurtenances,by the construction of a water bound macadam base
1 1/2" in thickness with a bituminous macadam wearing surface 1/20
in thickness, including the preparation of the subgrade for said
macadam pavement upon the following described streets:
1. DALTON AVENUE from Second Street to Eleventh Street,
requiring 76,360 sq.ft, of macadam pavement 20 in
thickness at a total cost of......... ..... .1145.40
2. SOLDANO*AVENUE from Second Street to Eleventh Street,
requiring 64,306 sq.ft, of macadam pavement 211 in
thickness at a total"coat of ........................... 964.59
3, PASADENA AVENUE from Second Street to Eleventh Street,
requiring 59,520 sq.ft, of macadam pavement 20 in
thickness at a total cost of 892.80
4. ALAMEDA-AVENUE fromFirst Street to.Seoond Street,
requiring -6200 sq, ft* of macadam pavement 2" in
thickness at a total cost of..., .. ..... ............ 93.00
5. SIXTH STREET from Monte Vista Avenue to Cerritos
Avenue; requiring 17,680 sq.ft: of macadam pavement
20 in thickness at a total cost of 265.20
6, FIFTH STREET from Barbara Avenue to Pasadena Avenue,
requiring 13,300sq.ft. of macadam pavement 20 in
thickness at a total cost of 199.50
Total cost ofimprovements constructed $3560.49
Total cost contributed by City of Azusa 142.67
Total cash aid by Los Angeles County 1940-1941 $3417.82
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that'the Board of Supervisofs of
Los Angeles•County,,California be and they are hereby requested to
approve the streets whichewere,improved and, the expenditures made by
the City of Azusa for the construction of said improvements from
funds allocated by said County to the City of Azusa for the 1940-1941
fiscal year, all as hereinabove set forth.
The City Clerk of the City of Azusa is hereby authorized and
instructed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the
Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County, California.
